Jack Daniels Bottled in Bond 100 Proof Tennessee Whiskey 0.7L 50% 100 Proof Bottled in Bond The newest member and a limited release bottling of the Jack Daniels family was first bottled for the travel retail market, but is now also available elsewhere. This 'Bottled in Bond' is intended to commemorate the year 1897. At that time, the US government passed the so-called 'Bottled-in-Bond Act'. In the 19th century, whisky was not usually bottled, which meant that many shop owners who wanted to sell it added additives or diluted the whisky after purchasing it from the distilleries in order to make more profit. Jack Daniels was one of the first companies to start bottling whisky in 1895. This was to ensure that no one could subsequently change anything in the whisky. The Botteld in Bond Act set certain requirements for the whisky to ensure its quality. One of these was, for example, bottling as 100 proof (for us that means 50% vol.) or the whisky could only come from one distillery in order to receive the quality award. Tullamore Dew XO Caribbean Rum Cask Finish 0.7L 43% In Germany, Tullamore Dew is now a synonym for Irish whiskey. However, it is unfortunate to learn that the brand is rarely found in Ireland itself and only a few Irish people know it. The Irish whiskey distillery was founded in 1829 by Michael Molloy in Tullamore, County Offaly. After his death, it was passed on to his nephew, who promptly renamed it B. Daly Distillery after him. The later managing director and namesake Daniel E. Williams began his apprenticeship as a master distiller in the distillery at the age of just 14. In 1887, his initials DEW became the identifying feature of today's Tullamore DEW whiskey. The passion for whiskey production seems to run in the Williams family, as D. Williams' grandson also later became involved in the company. With his commitment and his love of travel, he explored the American market, got to know the blends there and, upon his return, brought the first Irish blended whisky onto the market. Despite this, Tullamore Whisky is still relatively unknown in Ireland today. Like many others, the distillery ran into financial difficulties after World War II and had to close in 1954. The brand rights were sold to John Power & Son, which later became Irish Distillers. In 1994 it was sold again to the C&C Group and in 2010 for the last time to William Grant & Sons Irish Brands Ltd. In September 2014, production resumed near home in Tullamore. Caribbean flair is achieved with Tullamore Dew XO Caribbean Rum Cask Finish 0.7L 43%, a product that was only added to the company's range in 2018. The demand for cask bottlings was satisfied with this product. Above all, the use of sherry casks has given the Macallan distillery its first-class reputation. Much earlier than the competition, Macallan recognized the enormous importance of the choice of cask on the taste of the whisky and therefore only used the best sherry casks for maturation. It was not until 2004 that the Fine Oak series was introduced, partly stored in bourbon casks. The single malt whiskies, which are equally popular with connoisseurs and collectors, are considered the flagship of Speyside. Located on the banks of the River Spey, the distillery was licensed in 1824 and is therefore one of the oldest legal distilleries in Scotland.
