Anyone who has ever visited the small town of Oban in western Scotland can only imagine the charm of this 14 year old single malt. Located directly on the sea, the influence of the sea air on the whisky plays a much greater role than with most other mainland whiskies in Scotland.
Even on the nose you can detect many spicy notes such as fresh ginger, lemon peel, sawdust, fragrant oak, allspice and aromas of Scottish shortbread, a sweet pastry. On the palate, dry apricots, a hint of menthol, which is supported by balanced sweetness.
The aftertaste is relatively short, but intensely fresh, the ginger notes literally dance on the tongue. A wonderfully balanced, energetic whisky.
