Harahorn Orange Dry Gin 0.5L 42% Det Norske Distillery The Det Norske Distillery was founded in 2011 by Odd J. Nelvik and Stig Bareksten. At first, both wanted to create 'only' a milder aquavit by letting the distillate mature in barrels. In 2014, the founders' first product, 'Arvesølvet Aquavit', was released. After the merger in 2014 with Puntervold AS and Agder Brenneri, more and more products were added to the portfolio, which is probably also due to the resulting collaboration with Ole Puntervold, a pioneer of Norwegian spirits production. Orange Dry Gin The Norwegian distillery's newest product is Orange Dry Gin. Its taste focuses on citrus fruits, making it a wonderful gin for summer. Oranges, lemons and limes, as well as rhubarb, are used here, among other things, and provide a wonderfully fresh, fruity and slightly bitter aroma with a pleasant acidity. But spices are also a must in a gin. Master Blender Jon Bertelsen opted for a fascinating selection of iris and caraway, and supplemented these with pepper, watercress, juniper and cinnamon.

People have always tried to create a product with the desired properties by mixing different components. In medicine and herbalism, for example, this can be the effectiveness of a drug or, as in this case, the taste of a spirit. For this purpose, spirits companies often employ highly paid specialists - so-called master blenders - who ensure that the characteristic style of the company or the individual products is maintained. The relatively young company Ocean's Rum has set itself the goal of optimizing "The Art of Blending" - the art of blending - in the rum sector. Numerous discussions with experts all over the world have finally led Ocean's Rum to decide to see blending as a holistic process that does not just involve the pure mixing of distillates. The raw distillates or young rums from Ocean's Rum are sometimes specially stored in order to give them the desired character for the blend through the influence of wood, temperature and time. The Ocean's Rum Atlantic Edition 1997 The Ocean's Rum Atlantic Edition 1997 is the flagship product from Ocean's Rum. It is the first rum in a series of three very limited special bottlings, with the other two rums - Ocean's Rum Pacific Edition and Ocean's Rum Indian Edition - not due to be released until 2015 and 2016 respectively. These special bottlings are named after the three great oceans, with each blend reflecting the character of the rum varieties produced there. The Atlantic bottling contains rums from Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique and Trinidad. All high-quality Caribbean and South American rums! The storage time was between 16 and 21 years and 5432 liters of Ocean's Rum Atlantic Edition 1997 were bottled from a total of 16 barrels, each with 43% vol. The taste of Ocean's Rum Atlantic Edition 1997 This mahogany-colored rum is remarkably complex, full-bodied and balanced. Despite the relatively long storage time, the wood note does not dominate, but is wonderfully integrated into other aromas of nuts, bananas, spices and sweetness. Zaya Gran Reserva 0.7L 40% Zaya – Guatemala Originally, products of the rum brand were both produced and matured in Zaya, Guatemala. In 2008, however, production was moved to Trinidad and Tobago and is now distributed locally by Trinidad Disitllers Ltd. The Zaya Gran Reserva is produced there according to an old secret recipe and is a blend of different rums to come close to the original taste of Guatemalan rum. The blend consists of up to five different distillates, which all go through the distillation process separately before being married together. Finally, the rum is stored in French oak barriques. Tasting As soon as you open the bottle, an incredible aroma unfolds. Notes of vanilla, mocha and also fruity aromas of mandarin and pear are evident here and are also clearly recognizable on the palate. Spices and vanilla are the strongest of the aromas and together with smoky oak notes they form a great bouquet. Due to its relatively low alcohol content, the Zaya Gran Reserva has a soft texture and is particularly suitable for pure enjoyment.

Havana Club Rum Seleccion de Maestros 0.7L 45% The history of Cuban rum It was Christopher Columbus who introduced the world-famous sugar cane to Cuba in 1493. The fertile soil and the ideal climatic conditions of the Caribbean ensured that the sugar cane could thrive. The locals, pirates and sailors quickly realised that the juice of the sugar cane could be easily fermented and used to make "Tafia" (an earlier variant of rum). Over the years, the so-called "Maestro Roneros" (rum masters) developed the art of distilling further and the first drinkable rums were brought onto the market. However, it was not until the 19th century that the quality of the rum really reached a decent level. This was mainly due to the introduction of copper distillation equipment and the first experiments with storage. The idea came from Pedro Diago, known as the father of Cuban rum, who filled the sugar cane spirits of the time into earthenware vessels and buried them in the ground. The result was a harmonious rum that lost much of its otherwise harsh character. Nevertheless, this new type of rum was not yet gentle enough for the Spanish royal family. The Spanish crown wanted a finer, lighter rum to satisfy the elite of the kingdom and the court. The result was Ron Superior, a refined, light, gentle, fresh rum that was first produced in the second half of the 19th century. Ron Superior spread quickly and is considered the father of today's Cuban rum. The production of rum at Havana Club As already mentioned, Cuba offers an excellent mixture of ideal climate and privileged soil. This results in excellent sugar cane, from which Havana Club selects only the freshest molasses. This molasses is mixed and fermented for a few days using pure water and yeast. This mixture, known as "Baticion", is then continuously distilled in column stills. The raw rum, also known as "Aquardientes", is then ready. This is followed by a long storage phase, after which the various rums are blended by the company's master blenders. This rum base is then mixed again with fresh sugar cane distillate and stored and mixed again until it is perfect for the respective rum class. One of the most important elements in this process are the oak barrels. Here, Havana Club uses both young barrels to bring color, aroma and expression to the rum, as well as older barrels that allow the rum to breathe and thus harmonize it. Only the best rum barrels for the Seleccion de Maestros The Maestros Roneros (the "rum masters") of Havana Club select some of the best barrels from the storage cellar for the "Selección de Maestros". These prestige rums are first set aside and tasted again after several years to check whether they still have the required quality. If this is the case, the rums are married and filled again into specially selected barrels that are chosen based on the aromatic and powerful potential of the wood. The Maestros Roneros then come together again and blend these barrels again before they are filled into the bottle directly from the barrel at 45% vol. This process is called "Cuban Barrel Proof" and produces a rum of exceptional quality with a particularly aromatic bouquet. This high quality has also been confirmed by many internationally recognized experts who awarded this special bottling the gold medal at three of the most influential spirits competitions (San Francisco World Spirits Award, Beverage Testing Institute's International Review of Spirits, International Wine and Spirit Competition). The taste of Havana Club Rum Seleccion de Maestros The amber-colored rum has a delicate bouquet of roasted pecans, spicy notes, tobacco and fine oak. The palate also reveals fine spice aromas that combine with earthy notes of coffee, cocoa and sweet tobacco. The long aftertaste is very full-bodied and impresses with delicate smoke and candied fruit. Overall, the rum conveys an impressive balance and offers enormous quality for its price!

There are only 320 bottles worldwide. The distillation took place in 2003 in a John Dore Double Retort Pot Still from the molasses of the native Jamaican sugar cane. This rum has an ester content of 150 to 250 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol, which corresponds to the VRW mark of the former Vale Royal Distillery. VRW stands for Vale Royal Wedderburn. The term "Wedderburn" is one of 4 Jamaican ester brands. The rum was aged for 18 years in an oak barrel in a tropical climate. A total of 320 bottles could be filled from the oak barrel at a cask strength of 60 percent. No additives were used.

But all of those people should know that this is written this way on purpose. A brief explanation for all of those who don't really know what the term 'Angel's Share' is: During production and subsequent storage in oak barrels, a certain amount of the whisky evaporates, so it basically dissolves into thin air or, more in keeping with the name, it 'ascends to heaven'. This way even the angels can treat themselves to a sip of whisky. Marco Savio, founder of the brand 'The Demons Share', asks himself why only the angels should benefit from it, when they already have their fun with wine and ambrosia. So he turned the tables and called his whisky 'The Demons Share'. Premium Rum of Panama 12 years Even in the glass you can see an impressive 12-year-old rum with amazing mahogany reflections. If you first smell the rum aromas, you are greeted by familiar notes of exotic as well as local fruits such as apples and pears, as well as nuances of orange zest, cocoa or tobacco. Pat Rigney built the distillery in the tranquil town of Drumshanbo with the desire to produce hand-crafted whisky and gin, far away from any mass production. Gunpowder Irish Gin 1.0L 43% Gunpowder Irish Gin has a crossover character, combining Irish and oriental botanicals. In addition to the well-known ones such as coriander seeds and juniper, there is also Chinese lime, Gunpowder Tea Kaffir Lime and grapefruit. The latter are in the infusion basket. Before distillation, the molasses rum is mixed with regional spices, which are first macerated in the alcohol. In order to select the perfect blend of herbs and spices, Blender Steve traveled for countless hours to surrounding locations such as Mahe, Praslin and La Digue to select the perfect spice combination. Contrary to what you might think, this was a very lengthy process, because not only did the taste itself and the harmony between the individual spices have to be right, but you also had to think about the future and ensure that supplies were secured. Since Zepis Kreol is also a blend, it is then married with an 8-year-old Bajan Foursquare rum and then matured again for 60 days in ex-bourbon barrels. The taste profile is clearly characterized by oak. There are also other fine spice notes of nutmeg, cinnamon or cloves. Serving suggestion: Try the Takamaka St. André Zepis Kreol in combination with a chilled ginger beer!

It is the origin of many different brands, for example Jameson Whiskey, The Irishman Whiskeys and Redbreast Whisky are produced here. The company itself can look back on a very long history, but the distillery as we know it today has only existed since around 1975. At that time, three entrepreneurs joined forces and founded the Irish Distillers Group so that production could be combined at one location. Redbreast Lustau Edition The name of the single pot still whiskey is based on a small bird, the 'Redbreast'. It is the only bird that does not flee its homeland in the harsh, cold Irish winters. It is made from a special mash that consists of both malted and unmalted barley. This is then distilled three times in a Coppar pot still system, from which powerful and characterful whiskeys are produced and for which Irish whiskeys and especially whiskeys from the Midleton distillery are known. The Redbreast was then matured in sherry barrels from Bodega Lustau to give it a little more depth. The aroma is therefore rich in dark fruits and dried fruit, with notes of almonds and toasted oak. The finish is sweet with overtones of various spices and memories of Oloroso sherry.
