Loimu 2024 Glögi 0,75L 15% Mulled wine on cold winter evenings, whether at home or at the Christmas market, is a treat, but the variations often taste quite similar and there is a lack of variety. Yet there are so many ways to spice up the pre-Christmas hot drink with new flavors. The Finnish distillery Lignell & Piispanen took precisely this idea and developed a versatile basic glögg recipe based on a high-quality wine, which is refined with different ingredients every year. By varying mainly Finnish forest fruits and fine spices, the distillery creates a new, exciting glögg edition every year - boredom is out of the question. In this way, the traditional winter drink is cleverly steered into new, interesting flavors. Lignell & Piispanen, founded in 1852 by the great-great-great-grandfather of the current managing director, was established when he acquired a distillery from the Swedish king. Still in family hands today, the distillery specializes in distilling high-quality liqueurs from the treasures of the Finnish forests. This tradition continues in the annual Loimu Glögg 2024 editions, which are refined with Arctic berries such as raspberries and aronia berries. The fruit comes from the surrounding forests and is carefully picked by hand to ensure that only the ripest berries are used. For the Loimu Glögi 2024 0.75L 15%, an extract of Arctic raspberry and aronia berry is made and combined with South African Cabernet Sauvignon instead of a traditional red wine. Warmed to a pleasant 60 °C, the glögg develops a fresh sweetness of raspberry and blackcurrant, while cinnamon and cloves in combination with the strong Cabernet create a solid, varied base. This successful composition makes Loimu Glögi 2024 a high-quality and special alternative to classic mulled wine.

Lillet Rose Aperitif 0.75L 17% The history of Lillet The origins of the Lillet Frères company go back to 1872. At that time, Raymond and Paul Lillet founded the company "Maison Lillet" in Les Graves near Sauternes and began trading in fine liqueurs, spirits and wines. Lillet, then known as Kina Lillet, was finally created in 1887 on the advice of Father Kermann. He worked under Louis XVI as a doctor in Brazil where he recognized the strengthening effect of cinchona bark. Back in Bordeaux, he experimented with the Lillets on combining wines and fruit liqueurs with spices. After a few failed attempts, they finally succeeded in producing Kina Lillet, the first aperitif from Bordeaux. Bordeaux was the most important French port at the time and so Lillet quickly spread throughout the world. In the mid-1950s, Lillet conquered Parisian and New York high society and has since become a staple in bars around the world. After a brief period of weakness at the end of the millennium, Lillet is currently experiencing a revival and is causing a sensation with new products such as the Lillet Rosé Aperitif. The production of Lillet Rose Aperitif The base wine for Lillet Rosé, like the wine for Lillet Blanc, is made from the Sémillon grape variety. It is then married with an artisanal, natural liqueur made from sweet and bitter oranges. It is also known that Lillet Blanc's recipe contains cinchona bark from Peru. This ingredient can therefore also be assumed to be found in Lillet Rosé. Like Lillet Blanc and Lillet Rouge, Lillet Rosé matures in traditional oak barrels to harmonize. The taste of Lillet Rose Aperitif The shiny pink Lillet Rosé is best served well chilled. Served like this, Lillet Rosé has light notes of red fruits, orange blossom and grapefruit on the nose. On the palate, Lillet Rosé is pleasantly fresh, fruity and lively. The well-balanced structure of Lillet Rosé is stimulatingly sour. Very pleasant! The aftertaste of Lillet Rosé is longer than expected and leaves a fresh feeling on the palate. Lillet Rosé is also wonderful for use in cocktails or with sparkling wine!

Chartreuse Verte 0.7L 55% The history of Chartreuse Verte The history of Chartreuse Verte begins early. Very early, in fact. It goes back to the year 1605. At that time, the nobleman Francois Hannibal d' Estrées gave the Carthusian monks in Vauvert a recipe for an "elixir of long life", which he had probably bought from an alchemist. However, this recipe was so complex that the monks in Vauvert only partially understood it at first. They therefore sent the recipe to the order's mother monastery near Grenoble in the 18th century. There, in 1737, the recipe was first put into practice and the "elixir of long life" was produced. The elixir was filled into small bottles and sold at local markets. There, the Chartreuse Elixir was very popular and was also often used as a drink, but due to its almost 70% ABV, it was not particularly popular. not exactly easy to drink. The Carthusian monks therefore developed a lighter and sweeter variant, which was first produced in 1765. This was the Chartreuse Verte, the recipe of which has remained almost unchanged since 1764. In the decades that followed, the monks brought an even lighter version, the Chartreuse Jaune, onto the market and successfully established their Chartreuse liqueur on the national and international market. The history of Chartreuse finally experienced a serious turning point in 1903, when the monks' mother monastery was nationalized. The monks were forced to leave the country and continued producing Chartreuse liqueur in Tarragona in Spain. They were not allowed to return to their monastery until 1929, but shortly afterwards suffered another blow of fate when a landslide destroyed the original Chartreuse distillery near the monastery. The monks, however, did not let this get them down and built a new Chartreuse distillery in Voiron, where Chartreuse Verte is still produced today. The production of Chartreuse Verte The monks have always kept the production of Chartreuse Verte a big secret. Apparently only two brothers know the complete recipe at a time and they are never allowed to travel together. All that is known is that Chartreuse Verte is made on the basis of wine alcohol and a total of 130 herbs are used. This herbal mix macerates in the wine alcohol, is distilled and then bottled at 55% vol. The color of Chartreuse Verte is completely natural - Chartreuse Verte is supposedly the only naturally green liqueur in the world. The taste of Chartreuse Verte On the nose, Chartreuse Verte shows an incomparable complexity of herbal notes that is difficult to describe in detail. The Chartreuse Verte also offers a potpourri of aromas on the palate, with nuances of fennel, anise and many other aromas. Everything is framed by a pleasant sweetness. The aftertaste of the Chartreuse is long and once again incredibly complex. The Chartreuse Verte is one of the great classics in the bar world and should be known to every connoisseur!
