Old Pulteney Single Malt Whisky 16 years 0.7L 46% Old Pulteney Pulteney is the most northerly Scottish single malt whisky distillery on the Scottish mainland. The distillery, built in 1826, is located in the small village of Wick, which was once designed by Thomas Telford and Sir William Pulteney as the ideal fishing port. It was during this opening phase that the town experienced a real herring boom, which was of course perfect for James Henderson, the founder of the distillery, and the sale of his whisky. Shortly afterwards, however, the Wick town council had to impose an alcohol ban and turn the town into a 'dry town' in order to curb the amount of alcohol consumed. For a long time, whisky from the Pulteney distillery was only available through independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail, which is of course different today. But even today you can find bottlings from Gordon & MacPhail as well as Cadenheads and Duncan Taylor. The distillery's core range includes a 12-, 15-, 18- and 25-year-old. In addition to these, there are also a few special bottlings with 'special' names, such as "Floatilla", "Duncansby Head" or "Noss Head". Old Pulteney 16 Year Old Malt Whisky For an even more intense and, above all, more complex taste, the Pulteney matures in two different types of barrels, followed by a blend of the two barrels. American bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry barrels are used for the maturation period. Notes of honey, vanilla and a pleasant aroma of smoky oak wood spread on the nose. Nevertheless, you have to give the 16-year-old some time in the glass to fully develop. But if you give it that time, every second of waiting will be worth it. The taste is initially a little reserved, then a more intense, sharper spiciness follows. Then, just like on the nose, vanilla, honey and oak.

The Glenrothes 12 year old Speyside Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 40% New paths As in many well-known distilleries, one or the other product at The Glenrothes is also replaced by a new design, a different name or a similar product. This 12-year-old Speyside Single Malt and its similar representative, the 10-year-old, are new products that are intended to replace the Reserve and Vintage bottlings we know and belong to the so-called The Soleo Collection. Soleo should not be confused with the Solera process! It simply refers to whiskies stored in sherry casks. In terms of character, connoisseurs in particular appreciate it for its harmonious image, but beginners in the world of whisky are also on the safe side with the 10- or 12-year-old. When storing, it is usual to first complete a longer maturation phase in first fill or ex-bourbon barrels and then finish it in sherry or other types of barrels. With this Soleo Collection, the distillery has turned the tables and first matured in sherry barrels. The 12-year-old Glenrothes owes its golden color with flashing amber tones exclusively to its storage in sherry barrels; no coloring was used here. Its unusual aroma is characterized by fruity notes such as bananas and a hint of vanilla. These can also be recognized on the palate. It is a fruity and rich single malt. You can also recognize a taste of melon, citrus and a spice of cinnamon. The whisky does not hide the fact that it was stored in a sherry barrel, so notes of dried fruit are also added.

Balvenie Single Malt Vintage Cask 1970 0.7L 44.6% Balvenie – since 1892 The Balvenie distillery is also a Scottish malt distillery. Along with many other distilleries, it is located in the tranquil village of Dufftown in Speyside. One of the most famous neighboring distilleries is the Glenfiddich Distillery. To this day, the distillery belongs to the independent company William Grant & Son. The name refers to the nearby Balvenie Castle, which plays another important role for the distillery. The founder of William Grant & Son and his sons built the distillery almost with their own hands from building materials that came from a manor house of the eponymous New Balvenie Castle. Then as now, the motto is 'quality over quantity' and it pays off, as it is not without reason that Balvenie's whiskies are among the ten best. Vintage Cask Series In this series, the Balvenie distillery presents four real rarities from their range. The series includes bottlings from 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973, all of which have matured for at least 30 years. Each bottling is very limited, so there are only 1,025 bottles in the entire series. 1970s bottling For this single malt vintage cask bottling, cask no. 12524 was specially selected from the limited stock of old reserve whiskies by master blender David Stewart himself. The nose is first pampered with great notes of honey and peat, and a little cinnamon can also be detected. At the latest on the palate you notice what a great, really high-quality whisky you actually have in your glass. On the tongue a soft, almost creamy whisky with great fruity nuances. The candied orange is particularly noticeable. Notes of chocolate and marzipan are more in the background.

Ardbeg An Oa The Ultimate Islay Single Malt Whisky 1.0L 46.6% Ardbeg Distillery Islay The distillery can be found on the south coast of the whisky island of Islay, very close to Port Ellen. In terms of taste, the whisky distillery stands out from other producers on the island. These are usually known for very heavy, peaty and smoky whiskies that rely on salt or sea aromas. At Ardbeg, the focus has been on spices, malt and sweeter aromas through various finishes. The distillery was officially founded in 1815 by John McDougall, but spirits had already been distilled illegally here before then, although this is of course not written down anywhere. During the distillery's history it passed through many hands, but much of it always returned to the McDougall family. It was not until the 1970s that it was completely handed over to Allied Distillers Ltd. Under their ownership, the reopening was slow to begin with - no wonder, since under their management whisky was only distilled twice a year. It was not until Glenmorangie took it over at the end of the 20th century that the distillery experienced a resurgence. An Oa The Ultimate Single Malt The new An Oa Ultimate now complements the standard bottling with a finish in a sherry cask. The Islay peat character that is very typical of Ardbeg and other Islay distilleries is complemented by a pleasant sweetness through this finish. You can expect a strong whisky with soft, sweet notes. This sweetness and peat are met with aromas of dark chocolate, aniseed and a matching spice of crushed pepper. Soft and creamy in texture, the taste shows a broad range of aromas: orange and roasted tea leaves, various spices and tobacco notes. Even in the long, gentle finish, the spicy aromas of anise are clearly recognizable.

Tobermory 12 Years Non Chill Filtered Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 46.3% Scottish Malt Distillery The Tobermory distillery is located on the Scottish island of Mull, takes its name from the island's capital of the same name, is the only distillery on the island and is also considered one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland. It was founded in 1795 right next to the island's impressive waterfall. However, over the past few centuries it has been closed more often than it has been in operation. It has been owned by DCL since 1916. In the last century it was closed from 1930-1972, was then renovated and expanded to four stills and was also renamed 'Ledaig', under this name it was produced between 1972 and 1976. There were even two bottlings under this name. Up until 1993 there were numerous closures, bankruptcies and reopenings. Only with the sale to Burn Stewart did this back and forth come to an end. Since then the Tobermory distillery has produced smaller quantities, with only two stills and only uses little to no peated malt. In the past there was no clear line and so there were often very big (quality) differences. With the new owner there is now more clarity and two uniform lines: Ledaig Whisky & Tobermory Whisky. 12-year-old Non Chill Filtered Malt Whisky This bottling is a 12-year-old whisky from the rarities collection. With its colorful designs it is intended to be reminiscent of the colorful houses of the island's capital. The edition of the 12-year-old whisky was allowed to mature in Manzanilla barrels and is non-chill-filtered. This preserves an overwhelming abundance of aromas that reflect the spirit of the Isle of Mull. These aromas, which can be clearly perceived on the palate, include citrus notes, dried fruits, various finely balanced spices and creamy toffee notes. The finish also reveals a fruity, spicy, long-lasting bouquet.

Yamazaki 12 Years Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 43% Yamazaki 12 Years Single Malt Whisky is a wonderful example of the skills of Japanese whisky producers who can easily compete with Scottish distillers. This whisky matured in American, Spanish and Japanese oak barrels and offers spicy notes, some malt and fruit aromas on the nose. Strong and heavy on the palate, with notes of honey, malt and dried fruit. The aftertaste is pleasantly long and dry.

The Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve 0.7L 40% Speyside Distillery Glenrothes, a Scottish malt distillery, is located in the 'Valley of the Rothes' (which is also what the company name means) between Craigella and Elgin in Speyside. It was founded in 1879. At that time, the distillery was founded by William Grant & Co., who is not to be confused with the founder of Glenfiddich. In the years after its founding, there were a few turbulent years for the whisky distillery. It was often hit by one fire or another and once burned down completely. However, these setbacks did not hold the company back and the distillery was continually rebuilt. It was worth it: The distillery's generally light whisky with its fine bouquet of berries, other fruits and carefully selected spices is among the best in all of Scotland. Here, whisky is divided into categories by master blenders. In this classification, the malt from Glenrothes is now among the top six and is therefore doing really well in the whisky business. Bourbon Cask Reserve This new release 'Bourbon Cask' is also known to experts as 'Alba Reserve'. However, in order to better emphasize the name of the type of cask used, it was renamed 'Bourbon Cask' and so it fits better into the cask series, which includes a sherry and a peated cask. Tasting Notes The aroma is floral and fresh with hints of vanilla and a few exotic notes. It is stored in ex-bourbon barrels made of American white oak, which primarily shape the taste profile. On the palate, as is well known, a very soft and light whisky, with a strong emphasis on vanilla. The aromas are accompanied by other fruit components of red berries. The finish is medium-long, but as expected, very soft and creamy with sweet notes

Highland Park Single Cask Series No. 4439 2003/2018 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 59.6% Highland Park Distillery Under the patronage of the Borwick family, the distillery received its first official distilling license in 1829. Speculation that the distillery was founded much earlier cannot be refuted, but this statement should not be taken seriously, as a lot of illegal distilling took place in the 18th century and Orkney was also a well-known place for such distilleries. In 1895, the distillery was sold to James Grant, under whom the company truly flourished. They caught the attention of Highland Destilliert, who ultimately bought the distillery. Highland Park Whiskys The special thing about the whiskies from the Scottish distillery is its round, harmonious character, which is nevertheless influenced by the surrounding area. Peat and sea air give these whiskies a very special taste and the heather used to dry them also leaves behind its own very own aroma. Single Cask Series Cask No 4439 2003/2018 Single Malt Scotch Whisky This is a new special bottling from the well-known distillery. It is a single malt Scotch whisky and is an exclusive country bottling for Germany. After a maturation phase of 15 years in a first fill sherry cask made of American oak, the whisky has developed its aroma and found its way into the bottles. Now it impresses with a pleasant sweetness of heather and the well-known peaty notes of a Highland Park. Special aromas that can also be recognized here are spicy ginger as well as notes of tobacco and cocoa.

Penderyn Faraday Single Malt Welsh Whisky 0.7L 46% Penderyn The Penderyn whisky is a Welsh single malt from the Gwalia distillery. This has been operated by the Welsh Whiskey Company since September 2000. It is the only distillery in Wales, which, along with other factors, makes it very unique. The distillery also uses a very special distillation process, using the Faraday still which was specially made for Penderyn. Just three years after it opened, the first 'First Ever Single Malt Welsh Whiskey' was released. The first real presentation of the Penderyn single malt started with an all-star cast. As Prince of Wales, Prince Charles took on the task himself - you couldn't have found a better crew! The first bottling was sold out on the same day. The company was very lucky with this event and was able to quickly gain international recognition. The whisky The Penderyn Single Malt Whiskey is characterized above all by its purity and soft texture. In terms of taste, the Penderyn whisky offers primarily fruity aromas with an exciting spice and aroma due to the barrel maturation, which takes place here in bourbon and Madeira barrels.

Tomatin Single Malt Whisky 12 years 1.0L 43% Tomatin The Tomatin distillery is a Scottish distillery. Translated, its name means 'juniper book'. The whisky distillery can be found on the edge of the Grampian Mountains, where it was founded in 1897, during the peak whisky years. Like many other distilleries, however, the Tomatin distillery fell victim to the rapid end of the whisky boom. However, it reopened in 1909 and was greatly expanded between 1956 and 1962. The Tomatin distillery quickly became the largest in Scotland, with more than twelve million litres of alcohol. The tradition of whisky production was maintained despite its size, but a 'saviour in times of need' was needed. This was the Japanese interest group Takara Shuzp Co. and Okura and was the first intervention by a Japanese company in Scotland. Tomatin 12 YO Because of storage in traditional oak barrels, former bourbon barrels and former sherry barrels, the Tomatin 12 YO gets a very complex aroma. On the nose, a great combination of fruit and fine spices. Green apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and a subtle hint of milk chocolate are the defining features. On the palate, the Tomatin 12 YO is definitely clearer. Fruity notes are particularly prominent. Lemon and orange peel join in, followed by strong notes of spices and wood. The finish is surprisingly refreshing with citrus notes that are rounded off by fine roasted oak aromas.

Glengoyne Single Malt Whisky Balbaina 1.0L 43% Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Distillery The distillery's origins go back to 1820 on the Burnfoot Farm. George Connell secretly began distilling whisky under the best conditions to avoid the tax collector. A hidden waterfall and a small gorge offered him the perfect conditions for this. Connell acquired an official distilling license for Glenguin of Burnfoot for the first time in 1833. The distillery kept this name until the beginning of the 20th century, when it was renamed the Glengoyne Distillery as it is known today. To this day, the special thing about the distillery is that the distillates mature in imported sherry casks. One to save a few marks, of course, but it was quickly noticed that it gave the whisky a particularly complex taste. Today, importing the barrels is probably the more expensive way of maturing whisky, but the complex sweet, fruity, spicy taste of Glengoyne is well known and so this style has been retained. The unmistakable taste When you open the bottle you are immediately treated to fine aromas. A hint of the finest chocolate as well as the scent of aromatic orange marmalade and freshly baked biscuits waft from the bottle. There is also a strong spicy note: barley malt and the strong notes of the sherry barrels have their effect, while sweet, fruity notes of red wine round off the aroma. When you then taste the Glengoyne Balbaina Single Malt it seems even more exciting. The already aromatic Tough is accompanied by spicy notes of cinnamon and cloves on the palate. The fruity side of the single malt is also deepened, with apple and date aromas recognizable here. The multi-layered Glengoyne is convincing throughout and rounds off the overall picture with a great finish. The taste is rounded off with a long finish and further aromas of oak, roasted brown sugar and a hint of citrus.

Deanston Single Malt Whisky 10 Years Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish 0.7L 46.3% A strong community There is a small community behind Deanston and it represents the people who have made the company what it is today. The actual history of the distillery, however, begins in 1785 with an old cotton mill that was opened on the banks of the River Teith by Richard Arkwright. During these years, agriculture changed to industrialisation and Arkwright later became one of the fathers of the industrial revolution. The company developed very well and the number of employees grew. In order not to lose them again, it was necessary to think of accommodation for new employees. This is how the idea came about to build a self-contained village. This has been preserved to this day and continues to form the centre of Deanston. It was not until 1965, when the cotton industry slowly declined, that the number of employees also gradually decreased. Instead of giving up the company altogether, it was also of great value for the community to start anew with a new craft! Deanston 10 YO Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish After the distillation process in 2006, the whisky was first matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for two years in old red wine casks from Bordeaux. This whisky has a lot of volume, with strong sherry and alcohol notes on the nose. Deanston is known for the fresh honey sweetness in every whisky and this note can also be found in the 10 YO Bordeaux. Honey, caramel and sweet malt combine with red wine and a hint of citrus aroma. The aftertaste is a persistent fruity sweetness combined with a subtle spiciness.

Islay Storm Single Malt Scotch Whisky Limited Release 0.7L 40% Islay Whisky These special whiskies speak for themselves. They are characterised by peaty, smoky aromas and are particularly strong to powerful; you really have to like them. The Islay island is usually seen as a whisky region, but is also increasingly seen as an independent region, which is probably due to the abundance of distilleries and is absolutely justified, because the island is home to a total of seven distilleries (if you count Port Ellen, some buildings are still standing and you can still get their malt, there would be eight). The taste is of course debatable; if you compare Bunnahabhain Wiksy with Ardbeg, for example, there is a world of difference; one is more fruity and gentle and the other is very extreme in taste. In summary, all whiskies from the island have one thing in common: the distinctive smoky and peaty taste with phenolic and some call it medicinal tones. Unfortunately, we don't know much about Islay Storm Whisky, but it is probably distilled and bottled in Scotland and is a single malt scotch from an unknown Islay distillery. Taste of the Islay Storm Whisky Limited Release On the nose, there is mainly a peaty, smoky aroma. On the palate, a light, sweet peat note alternates with sea salt, vanilla and various spices. The finish is once again characterized by smoke, but leaves a pleasant mouthfeel.

Bowmore Single Malt Whisky 10 Years Dark and Intense 1.0L 40% Bowmore Distillery The first written mentions of the distillery date back to 1779, but if you believe some of the older generations of islanders, the distillery was already in operation in years before that. What is certain, however, is that the distillery was the first on the island of Islay and has one of the oldest maturation warehouses, the No. 1 Vaults. Whisky has been stored there for over 240 years. They are located right by the sea and some are even below sea level, which gives the Bowmore whiskies a salty toughness compared to other whiskies on the island. 10YO Dark & Intense Malt Whisky The storage in hogsheads and sherry casks from Spain gives the Dark and Intense their reddish, brown amber color. With its daring flavor combinations, the Bowmore Dark & Intense breaks all boundaries. The taste is intended to unite fire and earth and plays on precisely these two elements with spicy sherry tones and the typical Bowmore peat smoke. The nose delights with sun-ripened fruits, including Seville oranges and roasted maple wood. On the palate, dried grapes, a hint of sea salt and the oiliness of dark fruits. Notes of peaty walnut and a fine mixture of different spices also play a significant role.

Bowmore 18 Years Deep and Complex Malt Whisky 0.7L 43% Scotland's oldest distillery The Bowmore distillery is the first distillery to exist on the island of Islay. With its No. 1 Vaults, it also has the oldest maturation warehouses for Scotch whisky, in which Bowmore whisky has been maturing for more than 240 years. The distillery is located in the center of the island of Islay. This central location is also reflected in its whiskies, which combine the most diverse characteristics of the island's influences. This means that they are neither as extreme as the malts of the south coast nor as smoky and peaty as the whiskies from Bunnahabain. They have something salty about them, which probably comes from the warehouses that are by the sea and partly below sea level. 18YO Deep & Complex Malt Whisky The 18 year old Bowmore Deep & Complex is a finely balanced whisky that was able to develop a deep, characterful taste profile during its storage in selected Oloroso casks and Pedro Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Fine scent of dark chocolate, molasses, toffee and sweet dates. On the palate, the 18 year old shows nuances of bittersweet oranges and coffee roasted in peat smoke, according to Bowmore. In the finish, further aromas of spicy, roasted mocha and macadamia nuts are added.

Bowmore 15 Years Golden and Elegant Malt Whisky 1.0L 43% Bowmore Distillery Scotland A merchant named David Simpson bought the land in 1766. He is also the founder of the distillery, which was first mentioned in writing in 1779. It is therefore the first distillery to be built on the island of Islay. Its name means 'big reef'. It is located right in the center of the islands, on the shores of Loch Indaal. Bowmore also has a visitor center with a very well-stocked shop. You can also get an insight into malt production here. 15YO Golden & Elegant Malt Whisky The Golden & Elegant is stored in first fill bourbon and wine barrels. A refreshing, stimulating and uplifting whisky awaits the connoisseur here. On the palate it brings back memories of a sweet dessert with honey, Amalfi lemons and spicy tobacco leaves. These impressions continue on the palate too. Fine lemon with sweet and salty vanilla and honey notes. The well-known peat smoke of Bowmore whiskies also flows discreetly here, and roasted almonds round off the overall picture.

Macallan Single Malt Whisky 12 Years Double Cask 0.7L 40% Macallan was one of the first distilleries to be licensed to legally produce whisky. The distillery combines traditional methods, passion and craftsmanship. In terms of production and the natural ingredients used, it is based on the major influences of Spain, North America and, above all, Scotland. The distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and teacher. The area in which the Macallen distillery is located was originally called 'Maghellan'. It is made up of the Gaelic 'magh', which means fertile land, and 'Ellan' from the monk St. Fillan, who had a close connection to the cherry that once stood on the site. The Macallan Double Cask now matures exclusively in old sherry casks. The barrels have a special secret: American oak barrels were filled with sherry especially for the Macallen distillery to be used for maturing the whisky. Old sherry barrels made of European oak are also used to obtain an even better aroma. On the nose, the classic aroma of sherry accompanied by dried fruit and butterscotch. The full aroma is then revealed on the palate: creamy on the tongue, honey with jam and cinnamon is reminiscent of oven-fresh, warm pastries.

The Singleton of Glendullan Single Malt Whisky 18 years 1.0L 40% Distillery from the whisky capital Glendullan is located in the so-called whisky capital Dufftown. This is a small village in Scotland, which is home to the most distilleries in the world. The Glendullan distillery itself was founded in 1898 by William Williams & Sons and was founded in 1902 by King Edward VII. Taste Singleton of Glendullan 18 YO Glendullan 18 YO is a personal and exclusive creation by Maureen Robinson, our Master of Malts, and is part of the Singleton of Glendullan whisky collection. Rich and dry on the nose. Complex aromas of toffee and roasted coconut combine very well with those of cocoa and hazelnut. The taste of Glendullan 18 YO is a pleasant whisky with a soft, smooth texture. A slightly sweet taste also comes through, but this is perfectly balanced by a fresh acidity and turns into a rich, spicy herbal aroma. Subtle notes of chili or pepper resonate. The finish is also soft, dry and absolutely well-rounded. If you add a drop of water to the whisky when tasting it, you get a nutty, spicy aroma with a subtle aroma reminiscent of cigars. Glendullan whisky also harmonizes perfectly with all kinds of food. With its dry spiciness and citrus fruit aromas, it harmonizes perfectly with buffalo mozzarella and air-dried ham, for example.

Glendronach Forgue 10YO Single Malt Whisky Non Chill Filtered 1.0L 43% Glendronach Glendronach is a Scottish malt distillery. Scottish distillery names usually have a special meaning, and that is also the case here: Glendronach means valley of the Dronach or valley of the blackberry bushes. The distillery is located between Banff and Huntly in the eastern Highlands in Forque. The emphasis is on the penultimate syllable and the 'ch' is pronounced more than a 'k'. It was built in 1826 and from 1920 to 1960 belonged to a son of William Glenfiddich, under whose management the distillery ran excellently for around forty years until it was finally bought by Teachers & Sons. As the Glendronach distillery was a very small distillery in comparison, a lot was and still is done by hand: the barley is sourced from the nearby Forque Valley and processed in our own floor maltings. The wash backs are also partly fired with coal. In 1966 the number of stills was increased from two to four. In 1991 the distillery was included in the Allied Distillers Caledonian Malts Collection and after they took over the distillery it was closed. After six years of inactivity, malt lovers were all the more pleased when the distillery reopened in 2002. After the Benriach company acquired the distillery in 2008, the company returned to its roots. Glendronach 10YO Forgue Glendronach 10 Year Old Forgue is a Highland single malt with pronounced sherry notes. The heritage and part of the Forque combined in one bottle. An aroma reminiscent of blackberry bushes and in perfect harmony with spicy oak and ripe, sweet barley. On the nose, nuances of Seville blood oranges and cherries, roasted chestnuts and winter spices. On the palate, sweet Valencia oranges and Morello cherries and ripe barley, gradually becoming subtle toffee, cassis and blackberry notes. All topped off with a long-lasting finish of orange and tobacco.

Kilchoman Sanaig Single Malt Whisky Non Chill Filtered 0.7L 46% Another distillery based on the island of Islay in Scotland. A very young distillery that was only founded in 2005 on the site of Rockside Farm and was at that time the first newly founded distillery in Scotland in 124 years and the westernmost distillery in Scotland. But this does not mean that they have less good experience in whisky distilling. The Kilchoman distillery is also known as the 'Farm Distillery' because they grow their own barley. This is then used for the '100% Islay', which is an island product from the barley to the bottle. However, since the consumption of barley is significantly higher than that which can be grown themselves, barley is bought in, but this still comes from the island. In addition, spring water is obtained from the slopes of Cnoc Dubh, which is located in the Allt Gleann Osamail burn right next to the distillery. Only around 140,000 litres of alcohol leave the distillery each year, making it the smallest in Scotland alongside the Edradour distillery. Sanaig The name of the whisky refers to the nearby rocky bay. A few bottles of Sanaig were available to buy in selected markets as a test. Feedback was asked for and the Kilchoman Sanaig was then refined based on this. Kilchoman Sanaig is a peaty single malt whisky and consists of whisky that has been matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, which also gives it its distinctive taste. Isle of Jura Single Malt Whisky 19 Years The Paps Malt Whisky 0.7L 45.6% Isle of Jura Jura is located on the Isle of Jura, which is on the west coast of Scotland. The history of whisky distillery on the island goes back a long way. Whisky is said to have been produced here as early as the beginning of the 17th century. In 1875, John Ferguson and Sons were named as the official owners, who had to sell the distillery at the beginning of the 20th century after they could no longer pay the rent for the buildings. The distillery stood idle for a while, as new buyers were not found until the middle of the same century. Two locals from the island had a completely new distillery built with the help and financial support of Mackinlay MacPherson and an engineer and architect. They wanted to create more jobs for the locals, but this did not last long. In 1985 the distillery was sold on to Invergordon Distillers and thus came into the possession of Whyte & Mackay. Further changes of ownership followed, and it was finally transferred to the current owner, Emperador International Ltd. Taste After the Isle of Jura Single Malt Whisky has matured for a good 19 years in ex-bourbon barrels, it is then given a special finish through further storage in hand-picked Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels. This rounds off the already impressive taste of the Islay Single Malt Whisky. On the nose you can smell strong aromas of vanilla, a little balsamic vinegar and a hint of baked cake with notes of ginger. The taste is of a warm, spicy whisky. Red wine pears, the sweetness of ripe figs and an aroma of roasted walnuts spread out and harmonize very well with the aromas that were already so inviting on the nose. Highland Park Single Malt Whisky Spirit of the Bear 1.0L 40% Highland Park The Highland Park distillery has built up a good reputation over the years of its existence and has been able to stand out from the crowd in the big whisky world, primarily by passing on the legacy of the Vikings through to its unique collector's items and its unique product and packaging innovation. There are two points in the production of a Highland Park whisky that contribute to its special note: One of these points is the peat. If it is burned in the distillery's kiln, a strongly smoky malt is obtained. This makes up a good twenty percent of the barley used for mash. The second important point is the storage after distillation. One hundred percent of the sherry casks are used for the maturation process. The Orkney archipelago lies on the far north coast of Scotland and has been part of a huge Viking kingdom for hundreds of years. The ancient Vikings believed that they could use these qualities to their advantage and win them over by wrapping a bearskin around their necks in preparation for a fight. These men are known today as "berserkers". Its name comes from the old Nordic words "ber" for bear and "sekr" for skin. Tasting Notes Highland Park Spirits of the Bear has a natural, golden straw colour that comes from being stored in American oak barrels. A strongly smoky whisky with a sharp spiciness that is inspired by the robust nature and the incredibly strong independence of the ancestors who are still at the heart of whisky production in Orkney today. The basis of this Scandinavian whisky is the purest water in the world, which has been perfectly filtered for centuries since the Ice Age. The barley used here develops its own unique, sweet aroma over the warm summer days. The barrels for storage are also made of regionally produced Swedish oak, which gives the whisky a stronger taste than American oak.
