Talisker Single Malt Whisky Dark Storm 1.0L 45.8% The history of the Talisker distillery The Talisker distillery was founded in 1830 by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill and is now one of the most famous distilleries in Scotland. Talisker is part of the whisky region of the Islands and is located on the Isle of Skye. Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye and, as with many other single malt whisky distilleries, Talisker experienced numerous changes of ownership, especially in the first decades after its founding. The most difficult days for Talisker, however, were in November 1960, when a fire caused by carelessness reduced the distillery to rubble and ashes. Just two years later, however, Talisker was faithfully rebuilt in order to preserve the original taste of Talisker. Talisker now produces around two million litres of distillate annually with two wash stills and three spirit stills. The Talisker Dark Storm Talisker enjoyed great success with the Talisker Single Malt Whisky Dark Storm 1.0L 45.8%. It is therefore not surprising that Talisker has now brought a corresponding successor onto the market with the Dark Storm. The Talisker Dark Storm whisky was stored in very heavily charred oak barrels, which gives it special smoky notes. The smoky taste also comes from the water from the springs on the Cnoc am Speirag, which are used for the Talisker Dark Storm. This almost reddish-brown water flows over peat and therefore takes on its strong, intense taste. On the nose, the Talisker has a slight spiciness and strong smoky notes. On the palate, the Talisker Dark Storm is also very strong and intense. Surprisingly, a pronounced sweetness and notes of black currants can also be detected on the palate. The aftertaste is relatively long and memorable. If you like smoky whiskeys with a slightly higher alcohol content, the Talisker Dark Storm has 45.8%, you will love this special bottling. We recommend enjoying the Talisker Dark Storm after a hard day at work or as a digestif in front of the fireplace.

Prometheus 26yo. Speyside Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 47% Prometheus - A mysterious whisky Prometheus is one of the most famous figures from Greek mythology. Prometheus is considered a great friend and cultural founder of humanity. Prometheus brought fire to mankind and thus ultimately decisive progress. Because he stole fire from the sun chariot of the deity Helios, he was severely punished for his crime. The single malt whisky of the same name is also said to bring fire (to the taste buds). However, like its Greek model, the Prometheus 26 year old single malt is surrounded by a few secrets. The bottler, The Glasgow Distillery Company, states how the whisky was made, but the distillery of this outstanding tipple is not revealed. This is intended to arouse curiosity, which is achieved excellently if you look at the contributions in the blogs and forums of the whisky community. The Glasgow Distillery Company has recently started producing its own whisky, which however still has to mature for a few years before it comes onto the market. The Prometheus should therefore give a first impression of what you can expect from the distillery's own whiskies. The Premium Whisky Prometheus The Prometheus is a 26 year old single malt whisky, bottled at a strong 47% ABV and allowed to mature in a Spanish 1st fill sherry cask. The distillate comes from the famous Speyside, and peat was used to dry the barley malt, which is rather unusual for this region. A total of 3000 bottles were produced. of this noble drop, 1100 of which are intended for the European market. The taste of the Prometheus Single Malt Whisky The taste of this amber-colored whisky is just as exciting as the story! On the nose, it shows fine aromas of orange peel, butterscotch and a clear peat note. On the palate, the Prometheus is extremely complex, with aromas of honey, roasted nuts, dried fruit and vanilla in the foreground. The aftertaste is extremely long and a warming, smoky and very satisfying taste remains. A brilliant whisky that warms your heart - just like sitting by a crackling fire.

Talisker Single Malt Whisky Storm 0.7 L, 45.8% The history of Talisker The Isle of Skye lies just off the west coast of the Scottish mainland. The Isle of Skye is the largest island in the Inner Hebrides and home to the Scottish malt whisky distillery Talisker. Talisker was founded in 1831 by the two brothers Hugh & Kenneth MacAskill. After the brothers' deaths, the Talisker Distillery was taken over by Donald MacLennan, who was not a good businessman and went bankrupt just a few months after the takeover. Numerous other changes of ownership followed, which were associated with some changes. For example, triple distillation was carried out until 1928, when the double distillation process, which is still used today, was adopted. In 1960, a catastrophe struck when, due to carelessness, fresh distillate overflowed and ignited in the coal-fired ovens used at the time. The production facility then burned down completely, but was rebuilt true to the original. Talisker is now owned by the international spirits company Diageo and produces around 2,000,000 L of new make annually with two wash stills and three spirit stills. The Talisker Single Malt Whisky Storm The Talisker Single Malt Whisky Storm is one of Talisker's newest bottlings and is bottled without an age statement. By using slightly younger distillates, the Talisker Storm is supposed to have a strong, stormy character and be reminiscent of the wild sea on the cliffs of the Isle of Skye. In contrast to the 10-year-old Talisker, the Storm is much more heavily peated, which you can immediately feel on the nose and palate. Nevertheless, the typical peppery character of Talisker comes through very well and makes the Storm unmistakable. The aftertaste is surprisingly long for such a young single malt whisky, which is probably due to the use of oak barrels of different ages. In addition, fine maritime notes and nuances of dried fruit can be perceived. If you like Talisker whiskies, you will definitely like the Storm!

Bruichladdich Malt Whisky Scottish Barley The Classic Laddie , 0.7 L, 50% Bruichladdich - A very traditional distillery The Bruichladdich distillery, which is pronounced "bruchladdie", is the westernmost distillery in Scotland. It is located on the island of Islay on the western shore of Loch Indaal, directly opposite the famous Bowmore Distillery. Bruichladdich was founded by the three brothers Robert, William and John Gourlay Harvey, who built the distillery in 1881. Unlike many other new distilleries at the time, the Harvey brothers did not convert an existing old building into a distillery, but built one from scratch. They also invested a lot of money in the most modern equipment of the time. This foresight paid off, as some of the equipment from the 19th century can still be used in daily operations today. After Bruichladdich had to close between 1929 and 1937, it was closed again in 1994 after various changes of ownership. At the time, things looked bleak, but in 2000, three brave investors and partners of Murray McDavid decided to buy the distillery and breathe new life into it. Since May 29, 2001, Bruichladdich has been producing new single malt whisky again, which has delighted whisky lovers all over the world! Even though the distillery is located on the island of Islay, which is known for its smoky whiskies, not all of the distillery's whisky is made from malt dried over peat. The distillery's classic bottlings are unpeated and perhaps for this very reason, and not just among the residents of Islay, they are very popular. The Bruichladdich Scottish Barley "The Classic Laddie" The Bruichladdich Scottish Barley "The Classic Laddie" is made from 100% Scottish barley and is a tribute to the beauty and untouched nature of this breathtaking country! Like the old Bruichladdich bottlings, the Scottish Barley "The Classic Laddie" is unpeated, which sets it apart from other single malt whiskies from the island of Islay. This light golden whisky was stored in American oak barrels. On the nose and palate, the Scottish Barley "The Classic Laddie" shows fine nuances of caramelized fruit, brown sugar and, of course, malt. The finish is of medium length and permeated with floral and fruity notes. For a "standard" malt, the Scottish Barley "The Classic Laddie" is extremely high quality and is completely convincing!

Bruichladdich The Organic Scottish Barley Malt Whisky 1.0 L, 50% In the 19th century, it was common to convert old farmhouses or similar buildings into whisky distilleries. This had the advantage that the costly construction of foundation walls was not necessary and, in the case of a farm, harvest residues could often be processed directly on site. But of course there were also disadvantages. Since these buildings were not built to house a distillery, there were frequent space problems and compromises had to be made regarding the planning and design of the facilities. Furthermore, the pure spring water that is so important for production often had to be brought in over long distances. The three brothers Robert, William and John Gourlay Harvey also saw these grievances when they planned their Bruichladdich distillery (pronounced "bruchladdie"). They therefore decided to build the Bruichladdich Distillery from scratch and invest in the latest and most modern facilities. They chose the western shore of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay as their location, as it is very close to a spring with very high water quality. To this day, Bruichladdich, which is located directly opposite the famous Bowmore Distillery, is considered the westernmost whisky distillery in Scotland. When the Harvey brothers opened the distillery in 1881, they probably would not have imagined that some of the equipment they purchased back then would still be in operation today. Bruichladdich is therefore a kind of living museum and is extremely popular with whisky lovers all over the world, and not just because of its very traditional working methods. The Bruichladdich Organic Scottish Barley When the Bruichladdich Distillery was built, only organically grown barley was used. This changed with the industrialization of agriculture. Bruichladdich now wants to revive this old raw material quality with the Bruichladdich Organic Scottish Barley and relies entirely on 100% organically grown barley. After the slow distillation, the new make matures in American oak barrels, which give it the final touch. The Organic Scottish Barley is an extremely creamy whisky, with aromas of lemon, malt, pear, honey and almond. The Organic Scottish Barley is a fairly mild and completely convincing single malt whisky with a medium-long aftertaste.

Bunnahabhain Single Malt Whisky 18 years 0.7L 46.3% About Bunnahabhain The northernmost whisky distillery on the Scottish island of Islay can be found at the end of a small single-lane road on the coast of the 'Sound of Islay'. The distillery is known for whisky with a 'coastal influence', as the warehouses are located in close proximity to the coast. Here the wooden barrels are surrounded by the rough, salty sea climate, which contributes significantly to the special taste of Bunnahabhain whiskies. 18 years Bunnahabhain The 18 year old Bunnahabhain whisky is one of the company's products that has received the most awards. The dark mahogany color reflects the long maturation in sherry casks. The aroma is characterized by these sherry notes, honey, nuts and spices. On the palate there are also soft sherry notes, combined with oak, sweet toffee and the slightly salty coastal aroma from maturing in the warehouses right on the coast. The finish is peppered with the aroma of dried fruit and a hint of spice.

Old Pulteney Stroma Malt Whisky Liqueur, 0.5 L, 35% The history of the Pulteney distillery The delicate Stroma Malt Whisky Liqueur is distilled by the Scottish malt distillery Pulteney in the northern Highlands. More precisely in the village of Wick near the North Sea coast, making the Pulteney Distillery the northernmost on the Scottish mainland. The Pulteney distillery was built in 1826 by James Henderson and remained in family ownership until the 1920s. In the decades that followed, however, there were numerous changes of ownership and the distillery had to experience some ups and downs. Pulteney is currently operated by Inver House Distillers Ltd and, with an annual production volume of around 1,000,000 liters, is one of the smaller ones in Scotland. The whiskeys are distilled in just two stills. The Old Pulteney Stroma Malt Whisky Liqueur The Stroma Whisky Liqueur is the successor to the now sought-after Old Pulteney Liqueur, which was slightly lighter in terms of alcohol content than the current bottling. The name of the liqueur is based on the small island of Stroma, off the north coast of Scotland. The Stroma Malt Whisky Liqueur is intended to wash over the taste buds in the same way that the island is washed by the waves of the sea. The liqueur is produced using award-winning, strong malt whiskeys and lighter malt whiskeys. The different whiskeys are blended and then mixed with honey and various herbs and spices. The taste of the Old Pulteney Stroma Malt Whisky Liqueur In the glass, the whiskey liqueur shimmers in a dark gold and smells of fine whiskey, sherry, honey and spicy herbs. On the palate, the liqueur has a clear, but not too strong, sweetness and robust, full-bodied and fruity notes. The aftertaste is medium-length and intensely warming. The Pulteney Distillery recommends enjoying the Stroma liqueur neat or on the rocks. A view that we support, but we at Drinkology.de would also like to point out that it can be used well in whiskey cocktails.

Slyrs Malt Whisky Pedro Ximenez Edition No. 2 0.7L 46% Slyrs - The story of a German whisky When you talk about German whisky, you can't avoid the name Slyrs. Slyrs is derived from an old term for green-yellowish shimmering marl, which is also the name of Schliersee, where the distillery is located. The distillery belongs to the Lantenhammer distillery, which is particularly known for its fruit brandies. The idea for the German whisky came from Florian Stetter, the then junior boss of the schnapps distillery dynasty, during a study trip to Scotland in 1994. The nature there reminded him of his homeland Bavaria because of the clear lakes and streams, extensive forests and pure air. Florian Stetter then bet his fellow students that he could produce a whisky with local ingredients in Bavaria too. No sooner said than done, and in 1999 the first whisky flowed from the stills and was bottled after three years of maturation in barrels made of American white oak. The production of the Slyrs Malt Whisky Pedro Ximénez Edition The basis for the fine PX whisky from Slyrs is the best distillery malt from Bamberg. This is crushed and mashed in the Slyrs distillery. After fermentation, a double distillation takes place in copper pot stills, with only the middle run of the fine spirit being processed further. This is then transferred to barrels made of American white oak, where it matures for several years. Finally, the Slyrs Malt Whisky Pedro Ximénez Edition was transferred to hand-selected Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Bodegas Tradición in Jerez, which were up to 60 years old and stored there for up to nine months. It acquired its special sherry aromas in these valuable casks. The taste of the Slyrs Malt Whisky Pedro Ximénez Edition It is not without reason that the Slyrs, finished in a PX cask, was named “Best Single Malt Whisky in Europe” at the World Whisky Awards in London in 2014. Even on the nose, the Slyrs Pedro Ximénez Edition exudes intense notes of dried fruit, honey and malt. Similar aromas can also be perceived on the palate and are extremely finely interwoven. The complex aftertaste of the Slyrs PX cask is delicately sweet and extremely long! An absolute whisky highlight, which is unfortunately only available in small quantities.

Glenglassaugh Torfa Peated Highland Single Malt Whisky 0.7 L 50% The history of the Glenglassaugh distillery The Scottish single malt whisky distillery Glenglassaugh is idyllically located between the mouths of the River Spey and the River Deveron near the coastal town of Portsoy. This means that Glenglassaugh is geographically part of the Highlands. James Moir, his two nephews William and Alexander Morrison and the coppersmith Thomas Wilson founded the distillery in 1874 and were able to successfully establish themselves in the region over the next few years. Due to the early deaths of James Moir in 1887 and William Morrison in 1892, the Glenglassaugh distillery finally became the property of the Highland Distilleries Co Ltd. Unfortunately, under new management the distillery was unable to build on its past successes and had to close for the first time in 1908. Even after the reopening in 1931, things did not go much better and there were further closures and reopenings in the decades that followed. The Glenglassaugh distillery is currently owned by the BenRiach Distillery Company Ltd. and has been officially active again since November 24, 2008. The Glenglassaugh Torfa Peated Highland Single Malt Whisky Since the reopening, the distillery has released various bottlings in order to build on the success of days gone by. One small but very successful bottling is the Glenglassaugh Torfa. This is made from heavily peated malt, which was traditionally dried in kilns over peat smoke. Peated whiskies are rather unusual for the Highlands and so many connoisseurs are surprised when they smell the distinctive peat and smoky notes of the golden-yellow Glenglassaugh Torfa. The palate also reveals aromas of peat, which are underlined by nuances of melon, pineapple, baked apple and spices. The aftertaste of the whisky is very long and is characterized by smoke and the taste of dried fruit. The Glenglassaugh Torfa is bottled at a strong 50% vol. and is neither colored nor chill-filtered!

Glenglassaugh Revival Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7 L 46% The history of the Glenglassaugh distillery "Valley with the meadow" - this is what the name Glenglassaugh means when translated. A sonorous name for a beautiful distillery that is idyllically located between the River Spey and the River Deveron near the coastal town of Portsoy. Geographically, the Glenglassaugh distillery is therefore part of the Highlands. The whisky distillery was founded in 1874 by James Moir, the coppersmith Thomas Wilson and his two nephews William and Alexander Morrison. After the early death of James Moir in 1887, Alexander Morrison completely renovated the distillery and equipped it with new fermentation vats and stills. Unfortunately, Morrison also died just a few years later and so in 1892 Glenglassaugh came into the possession of Highland Distilleries Co Ltd. However, the company was unable to build on its past success and had to close for the first time in 1908. Even after it reopened in 1931, lasting success was not forthcoming and in the decades that followed there were further closures and reopenings. However, Glenglassaugh has been in operation again since November 24, 2008 and is under the official management of the BenRiach Distillery Company Ltd. The Glenglassaugh Revival Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky In order to build on the fame of days gone by, Glenglassaugh has released some very special bottlings in recent years. The Glenglassaugh Revival was the first whisky released after the distillery last closed over 20 years ago. The distillates used for this whisky matured partly in former red wine barrels and partly in former bourbon whiskey barrels. These two batches were then married and filled into ex-sherry barrels for final maturation. The copper-colored Glenglassaugh Revival has fine notes of toffee, caramel and notes of sherry, nuts, honey and milk chocolate on the nose. On the palate, this special whisky is creamy and rounded. In the long aftertaste, nuances of oranges, plums, walnuts, oak and cherries can be seen. The Glenglassaugh Revival was neither colored nor cool-filtered and with its strong 46% vol. is a very special treat!

Glenglassaugh Evolution Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7 L 50% The history of Glenglassaugh Glenglassaugh is a distillery with an eventful history. The distillery, whose name means "valley with the meadow", was founded in 1874 by James Moir. The Glenglassaugh distillery is located in the Highlands, between the mouths of the Spey and Deveron rivers. Unfortunately, the founder James Moir died in 1887, but his nephew Alexander Morrison continued to run it successfully and equipped it with new stills and fermentation vats in the following years. After Morrison's death in 1892, Glenglassaugh became the property of Highland Distilleries Co Ltd., but had to cease operations in 1908 due to some sales difficulties. The following decades were turbulent and the history of the distillery was marked by numerous closures and new openings. However, since November 24, 2008, Glenglassaugh has been in operation again and is under the management of the BenRiach Distillery Company Ltd. The Glenglassaugh Evolution Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky The Glenglassaugh Evolution is a very special bottling. The distillates used for this whisky matured in ex-Tennessee First Fill whiskey barrels. This special type of storage has produced a whisky with great depth, complexity and a lot of character and finesse. The Glenglassaugh Evolution does not use caramel as a colorant or cold filtration. It was bottled at a strong 50% vol. to preserve the full character of the whisky. On the nose, the light golden Glenglassaugh Evolution shows fine aromas of malt, pineapple and buttery vanilla. Similar aromas can also be perceived on the palate, although these are supported by nuances of white pepper, oak, caramel and ripe banana. The aftertaste of the Glenglassaugh Evolution is medium-long and underlined by the strong taste of spices and dried fruit. Despite its strong 50% ABV, we recommend not adding water to this great whisky!

Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky Vintage Cask 0.7 L 40% The history of the Glenfiddich Distillery The Glenfiddich Distillery is probably the best known Scottish single malt whisky distillery. Glenfiddich is located in the town of Dufftown and is therefore part of the Highlands. The distillery was founded in 1886/87 by William Grant and has had an extremely successful history ever since. A key reason for this was that Glenfiddich was the first Scottish whisky brand to dare to offer its malt on the international market. A bold step that paid off, because Glenfiddich Pure Single Malt is still the best-selling single malt whisky on the global market today. The distillery is still owned by the Grant family and is one of the few whisky distilleries that has retained its independence. With a total of 10 wash stills and 18 spirit stills, Glenfiddich manages an immense annual production volume of 10,000 liters of the finest single malt whisky. The Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky Vintage Cask The Glenfiddich Vintage Casks is one of a total of three bottlings from “The Cask Collection,” all of which were bottled without an age statement. Like the 15-year-old Glenfiddich, the Vintage Cask comes from a solera system, i.e. a row of barrels that are continually refilled. The barrels used for the Vintage Cask are barrels made of European oak and ex-bourbon barrels from America. The barrels were deliberately chosen to be as close as possible to the style of Glenfiddich from its founding year of 1887, when barrels made of European oak were still largely used. Since whiskeys at the time were also much peatier, a good portion of the Glenfiddich Vintage Cask consists of peated whiskey. This is also clearly noticeable when you smell the copper-colored Glenfiddich Vintage Cask. There are strong aromas of peat and smoke, which are flanked by nuances of dried fruit, oak and leather. On the palate, this single malt whiskey has a strong aroma of honey, vanilla and again smoke. The peat cannot hide in the medium-long aftertaste either, although it is much milder here than on the nose and palate!

Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey, 0.7 L, 40% The history of the Corsair Distillery It is not uncommon for good friends to open a business together. However, these businesses are less likely to be successful, as shared interests alone are usually not enough to run the business successfully. This is different for the Americans Darek Bell and Andrew Webber. Bell and Webber have known each other since kindergarten and now successfully run the Corsair Distillery together. The two experimented early on in the garage of Darek Bell and his wife Amy Lee with producing their own wine and beer. The products were very well received by friends and acquaintances, and so the two decided to produce alcoholic beverages professionally from then on. However, since they wanted something "spiritor", they decided to open a distillery! In the following years they visited numerous distilleries together to learn everything they needed to know about distillery technology through dialogue with the respective master distillers. After they had finally saved enough money for their own hand-hammered copper pot still, Bell and Webber began producing their own gin and whiskey. The Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey The Corsair Distillery's portfolio is long and, in addition to some standard products, also includes experimental spirits and bottlings that are often only available for a short time. These special bottlings include, for example, a pumpkin brandy or whiskey that has been hopped. Another innovative distillate from the Corsair Distillery is the Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey. The idea behind this whiskey is as simple as it is ingenious. As with a good Scottish whisky, the basis is malted barley. This is divided into three fractions before processing, each of which is smoked in a different way. While two fractions are gently smoked over milder cherry or birch wood, the third and final part of the malt is smoked with strong peat smoke. After distillation, the still young but already very aromatic whiskey is filled into new, charred barrels for storage. Here it gains another dimension of taste through the notes of the heavily toasted wood. The Corsair Triple Smoke Whiskey is a very complex whiskey that does not overwhelm the palate with its strong smoky notes, but rather encourages you to take another sip. The Corsair Triple Smoke is a very successful whiskey that deserves attention!

Glenfarclas 105 Single Malt Whisky 1.0L 60% Glenfarclas - A pioneer in the whisky business The origins of the Glenfarclas distillery, located in the heart of Speyside, go back to 1836. At that time, Robert Hay founded the whisky distillery near the popular tourist Ballindalloch Castle. In its almost two hundred year history, Glenfarclas has blossomed into a Category 1 whisky. Only the malt whiskies most sought after by blending companies are listed under this category. This good reputation in the spirits industry does not come from nowhere. Glenfarclas has been a pioneer in the whisky business for years. Glenfarclas was one of the first distilleries to bring single malt bottlings of different ages and alcohol content onto the market. Glenfarclas also played a pioneering role in opening a visitor centre for visitors. Almost 200 years of tradition After opening in 1836, Robert Hay had to wait another eight years before he was granted a licence to distill whisky. The distillery quickly built up a good reputation, so that businessman John Grant decided to buy it in 1865 for £511.19. The distillery remained in family ownership and is now run by the fifth and sixth generation of Grants. Because the company has always remained family owned, it has been able to bypass many of the rigid organisational structures of the normal spirits industry, which made many of the decisions mentioned possible. According to the Grants, the company's current goal is to continue the high quality of its own whiskies in the classic style of Speyside single malts. The 105 Cask Strength - A special whisky The color of deep peat gold is evidence of the power of this whisky. The complex bouquet then reveals notes of oak, pears, caramel and leather. On the palate, aromas of fruity sherry are revealed, which are underlined by a strong spiciness. The powerful aftertaste convinces with a warming, long-lasting smoky note. The cask strength of 60% vol. challenges the whisky connoisseur, which is why the addition of a few drops of water is recommended. The water opens up the whisky, revealing even more of its depth. In the whisky world, the Glenfarclas 105 enjoys a good reputation, particularly because of its price/quality ratio, and is often called "bang for your buck."
