One of these distilleries is the Paul Devoille distillery, which was founded in 1859 by the entrepreneur and master distiller of the same name. The distillery is still family-owned today and the recipes used for the various absinthes mostly come from the founder's recipe books. These, along with many other historical objects, are on display in the MUSEE DES EAUX DE VIE in Lapoutroie (Alsace), which is also run by the family. The history of Geranium Gin A few years ago, Danish entrepreneur Henrik Hammer and his father had the vision of creating the best gin of all time. Hammer, who lives in England, wrote down all the attributes his gin should have. The gin should be dry and aromatic at the same time. This was important to Hammer so that his product would be suitable for use with fresh lemonades such as tonic water, but also for mixing with fruity components such as juices, berries and fruits. To achieve this, Henrik Hammer and his father decided on a very specific genus of pelargoniums, which are better known in Germany by the common name "geraniums".
