Sloe Gin - Gin flavored with sloes
Sloe gin is a gin liqueur that has been flavored with sloes. Sloe gin typically has an alcohol content of 15-30% vol. and is traditionally produced by infusing London dry gin or dry gin with sloe berries and sugar. In Germany, sloe gin is also known as Schlehenfeuer or Schlehenlikör, whereby vodka and rum are often used instead of gin in its production. In Spain, there is also a variant of sloe gin known as pacharán, which is made on the basis of an aniseed spirit. Sloe gin can be used in many different ways in numerous cocktails and long drinks and tastes good as sloe gin & tonic, sloe gin fizz or as sloe gin royale with champagne, for example. As a sloe gin jelly, it even tastes great as a dessert! Well-known sloe gin brands include Boudier, Plymouth, Hayman's, Foxdenton and The Bitter Truth.
