History and production of Boodles London Dry Gin

Boodles London Dry Gin is a London Dry Gin that has been produced since 1845. It was named after the world-famous Boodle's Gentleman's Club in London, which has been a popular meeting place for the British upper class since 1762. Boodles London Dry Gin was the favorite gin of Sir Winston Churchill, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain and the most famous member of Boodle's Gentleman's Club.

Boodles London Dry Gin is produced in the Greenall's Distillery in Warrington. Initially, a clear grain spirit is made from British wheat. This is then finely distilled in a Carter Still together with nine botanicals, including juniper berries, coriander, nutmeg, rosemary, sage and caraway. This particularly gentle process produces a fresh, highly aromatic London Dry Gin with complex, herbal notes. The Boodles London Dry Gin deliberately does not contain any lemon or orange peel. In the eyes of the producers, a decent martini or gin & tonic always needs a lemon zest to round off the taste.

The aroma of Boodles London Dry Gin is dominated by juniper, rosemary and coriander, with slightly floral notes providing support. All of the botanicals are very well integrated and have an extremely balanced effect.

The taste of Boodles London Dry Gin is very mild and smooth. Juniper berries, accompanied by a complex herbal note, with coriander, rosemary and sage, are perfectly matched and form a balanced unit. The finish is warming and long-lasting, the herbal notes linger on the tongue for a long time.

The Boodles London Dry Gin is predestined for a dry martini. But it can also shine in a gin & tonic. By adding various herbs, such as thyme or sage and a lemon zest, you get a wonderfully complex cocktail with a full herbal aroma.
