Port - Port wine, the perfect wine digestif

Port wine, or port for short, is an absolute classic at the bar. Port is a fortified wine (also known as fortified wine or liqueur wine), i.e. a wine to which brandy has been added and which must come from the Douro Valley in northern Portugal. Port wine comes in many varieties, but the best known are Red, Ruby, Tawny, Light Tawny and White. Lovers of port wine particularly appreciate the rare vintage ports such as Colheita and Vintage Port, but specialties such as Pink Port and LBV (Late Bottled Vintage Port) also have many fans. Red port is usually enjoyed at room temperature, while white port is served slightly chilled. As well as being enjoyed on its own, port wine is also ideal as an ingredient in cocktails, long drinks and flips.
