Rum has been distilled in Guyana for several centuries. Rum from Guyana used to be used to supply the British Navy, which gave each sailor a daily portion of rum until 1972. Guyanese rums are traditionally made from molasses and are known among connoisseurs for their characteristic heavy and aromatic taste. This 15-year-old XM rum also has the typical Demerara aroma and shows clear notes of sweet molasses, ripe fruit and caramel on the nose.
