The new spirits from this relatively young brand are distributed by Litchquor Ltd. The company has been run by Frédéric Bestel since 2012, who has made it his mission to maintain traditions from the family's 200-year history. This mainly includes the use of a wide variety of spices. These were brought there many years ago by sailors who transported their herbs and spices from the Orient and South Africa to Europe. They used the island as a stopover on their long journey. Some of these spices and herbs can now be found in Classic Spiced and the other varieties of Mauritius Rom.

The brand's Classic Spiced is a fine blend of first-class Mauritian rum. Tropical spices and fruits play a major role. These are also clearly evident on the nose, along with fine cinnamon notes. Tropical fruits such as grapefruit and mandarin dominate the palate.

For this reason, the yeast starts working shortly after being added and metabolizes the sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. This is followed by distillation to increase the alcohol content of the mixture. This takes place in column stills. After distillation, the Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum matures in oak barrels, where it harmonizes its taste and absorbs fine aromas from the wood. It is then adjusted to an alcohol content of 40% vol. and bottled in the shapely and distinctive bottles. On the nose, the Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum shows fine notes of banana, sugar cane and rock candy. On the palate, nuances of oak, dried fruit, tobacco and papaya can be detected. The aftertaste is of medium length and remains in the memory. A beautiful rum that is suitable for many occasions. The Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum not only goes perfectly with a light cigar but also serves as the basis for numerous excellent drinks such as the Old Cuban.

Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum Solera 8 0.7L 40% Litchquor Distillery The Litchquor Distillery is a rum distillery on the beautiful island of Mauritius. The volcanic subsoil provides optimal conditions for growing sugar cane. For many years, long before the tourism boom, this was an important economic factor for the island. Once 90% of the island was used as cultivation area, today it is just under 40%. However, you can still find a variety of different types of sugar cane here. They all have their own character and so it is not surprising that Mauritius has become an increasingly popular rum region in recent years. Frederic Bestel is behind the wonderful rum brand 'Litchquor Distillery', which is responsible for the Gold of Mauritius rum.
