They are suitable for high-quality cocktails and long drinks as well as for pure enjoyment, e.g. with a medium-strength cigar. A total of three ages of Malteco are available. The highest quality is this 20-year-old bottling, which is complemented by a Malteco 10-year-old and a Malteco 15-year-old.
The Malteco Rum 20 Years
This special Malteco rum has been aged for a remarkable period of at least 20 years in oak barrels. This is very, very long for a rum, as most distillates are bottled much earlier. This fine distillate has a noble amber color. The nose reveals aromas of vanilla, tobacco and dried plums. The palate has a delicate sweetness with aromas of apricot, banana and chocolate. The aftertaste is medium-length and also has a very sweet and spicy structure. We recommend that you allow yourself enough time to enjoy the Malteco rum for 20 years. For each year of barrel aging, you should allow this rum at least a minute to experience it in all its facets.

Malteco Rum 20 years, 0.2 L, 40% Rum production Like most rums, Malteco 20YO rum comes from Central or South America, namely Guatemala. Other places where rum is produced besides the Philippines include Australia, Madagascar and India. During rum production, the mash, which is a mixture of molasses or chopped sugar cane, sugar cane juice and water, is fermented and thus left to ferment. This mixture produces white rum after distillation. To produce a brown rum, the white rum is stored in used oak barrels and takes on the color from the wood. Caramel is usually also used for coloring. Malteco Rum The Malteco Rum 20YO is produced by "Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala". This is an association of various distilleries in Guatemala that are committed to making rum from Guatemala more well-known and successful. The use of raw materials that have been grown and processed in the region itself is a top priority. Modern technology meets traditional manufacturing processes during production, which is what rums from Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala are known for. In a way, they want to bring the legacy of the Mayas into the world. The storage and the selected location as well as the climate at altitude in Guatemala and the oxygen content in the air have a special effect on Malteco rum. Malteco rum is stored for at least 20 years in selected, old oak barrels, which give it its mild, smoky aroma. Taste On the nose, the smell of Malteco rum is very pleasant and immediately invites you to try it. Sweet notes of caramel and vanilla increase the anticipation. On the tongue, you will then be very happy with this harmonious, golden-brown, mild rum. Perfectly balanced and rounded off with subtle, smoky oak notes. With an alcohol content of 41% vol. not exactly a small amount, but the Malteco rum's mild notes make it ideal for connoisseurs who don't like strong rums. This premium rum is actually far too high-quality as an ingredient for cocktails and long drinks; connoisseurs like to drink it neat or on the rocks.
Malteco Rum Selección 1986, 0.7L 40% History and production of the Malteco Seleccion 1986: Guatemala is now considered a real rum country. Aficianados all over the world love the mild, pleasantly sweet taste of Guatemalan distilleries. Malteco rum occupies a special position. All rums are produced and stored according to old Guatemalan recipes. The product range is also extremely diversified. There are simple but strong-aromatic rums for making first-class cocktails, as well as exclusive rum bottlings for neat enjoyment. The portfolio was recently expanded to include a new, limited special edition. A small selection of vintage rums is released under the "Selección" label, which in turn impress with their impressive age and noble taste. One of these is the Malteco Seleccion 1986, which was made from fresh sugar cane juice and stored for at least 28 years in former bourbon barrels made of American oak. Such a long maturation is extremely rare for rum and the few available examples are accordingly sought after. Over the years, a very characteristic aroma and taste profile has developed in the Malteco Seleccion 1986, which is reminiscent of a mixture of fine cognac and old single malt whisky. It seems almost impossible to find a more complex, better balanced rum. We have rarely seen such a beautiful bottle as the Malteco Seleccion 1986. The unique design impresses with a curved, golden band that runs towards the top and ends in the lid. The glass base is very solid and ensures a secure stand. In addition, each bottle is individually numbered. The Malteco Seleccion 1986 comes to your home in a beautifully crafted box made of dark wood. A metal fitting proudly presents the name and year of distillation of the rum. A lock in the same look also ensures that the box is not opened accidentally. On the front, a typical Guatemalan bird, the Quetzal, is illustrated as a 3D relief. The extremely elaborately designed packaging also visually underlines the outstanding taste and premium quality of this rum. This means that the Malteco Seleccion 1986 is sure to take one of the top places in your bar. Taste of the Malteco Seleccion 1986: The Malteco Seleccion 1986 lies heavy and dark in the glass. Highly viscous drops form on the edge, which demonstrate the high quality of the distillate. The smell is dominated by roasted aromas, coffee and noble bitter chocolate, which are rounded off by wonderfully sweet, well-dosed notes of vanilla, brown sugar, raisins and toffee. In the background there is a strong oak spice that skilfully combines all the aromas. On the tongue, the Malteco Seleccion 1986 is extremely creamy and mild, the mouthfeel is sensational. Once again, a variety of roasted notes come to the fore. These range from roasted almonds, hazelnuts and coffee to freshly baked rye bread and dark caramel. There are also dried fruits, orange marmalade and cloves. The spicy oak is also enhanced by a delicate smoky note. The finish is almost endless. As it dries over time, a delicate interplay of tobacco, dark chocolate and oak emerges. The Malteco Seleccion 1986 is truly an exceptional rum, with all the characteristics that aficianados appreciate. These include full-bodiedness, complexity, balanced at the same time and a wonderful aroma and flavor profile. A rum close to perfection.
Malteco Rum Seleccion 1980 0.7L 40% Ron Malteco – Rum from Guatemala Ron Malteco is a rum from the Central American state of Guatemala. The history of rum in Guatemala is shorter than in some island states in the Caribbean, for example, but no less interesting. During the colonial period, Guatemala was primarily known as a coffee producer, so rum only played a minor role at that time. The first commercial distilleries were built in the last century, with the Licorera Guatemalteca, which was built in 1914, being one of the pioneers, while other well-known producers such as Euzkadi, Quezalteca and Zacapaneca only joined in the 1930s. As Guatemala was heavily dependent on agriculture and foreign currency earnings, the distilleries merged under the name Industria Licoreras de Guatemala, which enabled technical improvements and thus a significant increase in quality. Even today, virtually every bottle of Guatemalan rum - like this Malteco Seleccion 1980 - comes from the Industria Licoreras de Guatemala house. The Malteco Seleccion 1980 The Ron Malteco Seleccion 1980 is one of the house's most special and oldest rums. Rums in this age class are a rarity and are highly valued by connoisseurs and collectors. The Ron Malteco Seleccion 1980 was stored in American white oak barrels at an altitude of 2,300 m. The enormous altitude has a strong influence on the maturity and rums stored at this level develop different flavors than barrels stored at sea level. A good example of rum in this category is the Ron Zacapa 23 from the same house, stored in a double solera. The taste of the Rum Malteco Seleccion 1980 is both balanced and complex, with fine notes of vanilla, molasses and oak on the nose and palate. The long aftertaste is underlined by spice and fruit notes and is accompanied by aromas of dried fruit such as raisins and dried apricots. Best enjoyed neat or at most on a little ice!

It is recommended to enjoy this wonderful 11-year-old Malteco neat. Triple 1 'Triple 1' refers to the alcohol content of the 11-year-old Malteco rum. 55.5 vol.% or as rum lovers like to say '111 proof', which is simply the volume percentage in the USA. So if you come across this word again at some point, you now know that this figure is half of the German volume percentage.

The Panama Rum is produced using the Cuban method and each product is made from the same molasses distillate, the only difference being the length of maturation. Malecon Rare Proof 17 years The Malecon Rare Proof is the slightly older brother of the Malecon 13-year-old, which was released in a small batch series with brand owner Savio and other experts. The Malecon 17 years also presents itself with a strong alcohol content of 51.2% vol., which is close to cask strength. This was done deliberately, as the aim of this small batch series is to tease out as many aromas as possible through a high alcohol content.

The Demons Share Premium Rum of Panama 12 years 0.7L 41% The Demons Share Some whisky lovers will probably wonder if someone has made a mistake with this name, because in the whisky scene there is actually only one so-called 'Angel's Share'. But all of those people should know that this is written this way on purpose. A brief explanation for all of those who don't really know what the term 'Angel's Share' is: During production and subsequent storage in oak barrels, a certain amount of the whisky evaporates, so it basically dissolves into thin air or, more in keeping with the name, it 'ascends to heaven'. This way even the angels can treat themselves to a sip of whisky. Marco Savio, founder of the brand 'The Demons Share', asks himself why only the angels should benefit from it, when they already have their fun with wine and ambrosia. So he turned the tables and called his whisky 'The Demons Share'. Premium Rum of Panama 12 years Even in the glass you can see an impressive 12-year-old rum with amazing mahogany reflections. If you first smell the rum aromas, you are greeted by familiar notes of exotic as well as local fruits such as apples and pears, as well as nuances of orange zest, cocoa or tobacco. If you take the tasting a step further and let the aromas unfold on the palate, further spicy notes are added. These are primarily accents of liquorice, cinnamon and vanilla. Even in the finish you can still detect one or two new aromas such as roasted coffee or cardamom.
