The Kongsgaard Raw Gin was developed by the namesake, the married couple Søren and Bettina Kongsgaard, and is handmade in Cognac, France. The two came to gin production from not entirely unrealistic jobs:
Søren worked in export and sales and had good connections to the apple industry. Bettina, on the other hand, worked in marketing. Since they both have a penchant for good food and excellent drinks and noticed how Gin Mark has become increasingly popular in recent years, they decided that they would like to bring a gin with a Danish character onto the market themselves.
The idea behind this gin: to recreate the structure of an oak tree. From the fruit to the trunk to the roots. All notes should be reminiscent of something in the structure of the tree: a solid, earthy base and fruity top notes.
Cognac is distilled in copper stills with an open flame, which have been used for several centuries to make the famous gin. Attention to detail and craftsmanship are at the forefront of production.

The ingredients
The couple sources the juniper from Bulgaria, where a special variety grows that has a stronger taste and aroma, but is also mild and sweet due to a high invert sugar content. The use of local apples from orchards on the southern islands of Denmark, which can change from production to production, reflects the balance between sweet and sour in the apples, which they get from the colder climate.

Bottled in dark green bottles with fine copper details, reminiscent of distillation in the old copper stills. The bottle is sealed with a wine cork. This makes this bottle stand out even in the extensive world of gin. From each bottle you can see which type of apple was used and in which year it was harvested.
