Det Norske Brenneri

The production facility of the Det Norske distillery is in Grimstad in southern Norway. After the Norwegian production monopoly was lifted in 2015, the distillery was the first private distillery in Norway. The distillery got off to a great start with its craft gin in 2015. For more than a year, the master distillers experimented with different berries and plants to get what they consider to be the perfect recipe for their craft gin. Since fruits, berries and herbs taste so particularly good in hardly any other place in the world due to the special climate in Norway, Harahorn Gin's contain four regional ingredients from land and sea: juniper from Røros, blueberries from Nordmarka on the outskirts of Oslo, rhubarb from Grimstad and seaweed from the city.

Harahorn

Hunters and miners have sworn they have seen it for many centuries. In North American folklore, this creature is called the Jackalope. In Norway, it is known as the Harahorn. The classic Harahorn Gin uses juniper berries as well as blueberries, rhubarb, bladderwrack, marjoram and angelica from the Norwegian wilderness. This edition of Harahorn Gin has also been aged for a year in Oloroso sherry casks. This creates a premium gin with smoothness and elegance, specially developed for classic drinks.

Hernö Gin (Bio) 0,5L 40,5%
Hernö Gin (organic) 0.5L 40.5% Hernö - high-quality organic gin from Sweden Sweden has a long culture when it comes to high-quality spirits. Just think of Absolut Vodka as an example. Since 2011, the small Hernö Gin Distillery, which can easily be described as an artisanal spirits manufacturer, has been added to the long list of Swedish spirits manufacturers. The Hernö Gin Distillery was founded by Jon Hillgreen, who moved to London in 1999, where he worked as a bartender with some friends. Over the course of his career, he tasted over a hundred gins and began to develop a love for this spirit that is so simple and yet so complex. In order to intensify his knowledge, Jon Hillgreen began to look into the scientific and technical side of gin production and visited numerous gin distilleries all over England. He quickly realized that he wanted to open his own small gin distillery at some point and finally put this plan into action. The Hernö Gin Distillery is located in the small town of Dala near the town of Härnösand in Ångermanland. This makes it the northernmost gin distillery in the world. The distillery building was built in the classic Swedish style from red and white painted wood and is just as eye-catching as the Hernö gin bottle. The Hernö Gin (ORGANIC) The Hernö Gin is a round and smooth gin produced in the style of a London Dry Gin. A total of eight different botanicals are used in the production, all of which are organically grown: juniper berries from Hungary, coriander seeds from Bulgaria, cranberries from Sweden, meadowsweet from the United Kingdom, black pepper from India, spice bark from Indonesia, vanilla from Madagascar and lemons that are still peeled by hand. Due to the careful selection and processing of the botanicals, Hernö Gin has a strong juniper character and floral and fresh notes of citrus fruits, which makes it an ideal gin to enjoy neat. Because Hernö Gin is not cool-filtered after distillation, significantly more aromas are retained than with an industrially produced gin. Organic quality that you can taste!

Harahorn Gin 0,5L 46%
Harahorn Gin 0.5L 46% Newcomer from Norway Again and again you have to realize that small, artisanal businesses become something really big and that it's not just the big market leaders that get all the attention. This is also the case with this new release from the small Norwegian Det Norske Brenneri. A harmonious gin from Scandinavia that is very special just because of its origin, as the Nordic countries are not exactly known for juniper schnapps. The Harahorn Gin comes from a distillery called Puntervold/Agder Brenneri that was founded in 2005 and renamed Det Norske Brenneri in 2011. After the first single malt whiskey was created in 2012, the handcrafted Harahorn Gin followed in autumn 2015. As co-founder Odd Johan Nelvik says, it took them a year to find the perfect combination of juniper and blueberry. This harmony is what makes this gin such a distinctively Nordic gin. In addition to juniper and blueberries, lemon and orange peel, nectarine and rhubarb are also used. The use of rhubarb also has a long history: The distillery is located in Grimstad on the southeast coast of Norway. Rhubarb wine used to be made there. The producers thought it would be great to somehow hold on to this tradition, so they added rhubarb. The herbs and berries used in the gin all come from the Norwegian wilderness. The harsh climatic conditions give them a taste that is only found in a few places in the world. The distillery also works with botanist Rolv Hjelmstad from Urtekilden in Oppdal. When producing Harahorn Gin, only small batches of around 300 L are produced per distillation process in order to maintain absolute control over the excellent quality of this gin. The taste The main aromas are clearly evident on the nose: juniper and citrus. On the palate, Harahorn Gin is also characterized by fresh nuances of creeping juniper, fruit and spices. Light notes of blueberries can be tasted, which makes everything a little fresher and sweeter. A very refreshing, long-lasting finish!

Harahorn Gin Miniatur 0,05L 46%
Harahorn Gin Miniature 0.05L 46% History Harahorn Gin is named after a Norwegian mountain in Hemsedal, where the wonderful juniper berries are harvested, and after a Norwegian legendary figure that no one has seen to this day. Known in North America as a 'jackalope', and called 'Harahorn' in Norway, it refers to a horned hare. After a production monopoly for alcohol existed in the Nordic countries, which was lifted for Norway in 2005, the former Puntervold / Agder Brenneri (now Det Norske Brenneri) was able to operate its production and barrel storage facilities in Grimstad in the south of Norway. They mainly produced apple wine and the caraway schnapps that is popular in the Scandinavian countries. They were the first private distillery after 80 years of state monopoly. Harahorn Gin The long summer days and the dark, cold winter nights create the perfect climatic conditions for the berries and herbs used in Harahorn Gin. Alcohol from potatoes forms the basis here. In addition, only selected, regional botanicals are used, with which the producers have experimented for a long time. In addition to the juniper from Røros, these include blueberries from Nordmarka on the outskirts of Oslo and seaweed from the city. This gin is produced in relatively small equipment with a capacity of 300 liters and is therefore a very special gin with each distillation process. Harahorn Gin can now be found not only in delicatessens and specialty stores. It can also be found above the clouds. SAS Flights has added the Scandinavian gin to its range. The guests on board should be offered a unique experience and so the Harahorn Gin joins the diverse selection of artisanal drinks on board. Tasting Don't be fooled by the typically clear appearance of this gin: clear aroma of juniper and citrus fruits on the nose. A surprisingly deep taste. In addition to the unmistakable juniper berries, spicy notes round off the overall picture of the gin and convince in the finish with the lasting freshness of the citrus fruits.

Harahorn Pink Gin 0,5L 40%
Harahorn Pink Gin 0.5L 40% Harahorn stands for Norway pure. In the small distillery, only around 300 liters of the fine distillates are produced at a time. This means that there is a constant overview of production and a consistently high quality can be delivered. Only berries and herbs from Norwegian nature are used to make Harahorn Gin, because these are supposed to play the main role. The gin owes its name to two important things. Firstly, it is a mountain in Hemsedalen. Secondly, it was named after a mythical creature, the Harahorn, a horned hare, thus clearly showing once again that Harahorn stands for Norway. Harahorn Pink Gin is naturally based on the already well-known Harahorn Gin. This is refined with an extract of premium raspberries and fresh lemon juice. You should try this pink gin neat. However, it is of course also suitable for a gin and tonic, although it is recommended to reduce the amount of tonic water by 15-20%!
