The 250-year-old distillery still produces excellent gin today. With great attention to detail and the finest ingredients, Alexander Gordon began creating a gin with a very high juniper content in his London distillery in the Southwark district in 1769. The district itself was also an important location for Gordon, as it was known for its excellent, clean water, which was needed as a base for the alcohol. A good twenty years after the company was founded, the company moved to Goswell Road in Clerkenwell. Even today, Gordon's Gin is still produced under license in the Scottish Cameronbridge distillery and at other locations worldwide.
From the 19th century, Gordon's Gin also supplied the Royal Navy.
In the early 19th century, the company quickly became a purveyor to the Royals, including King George V and the Prince of Wales, as well as Queen Elizabeth II and her mother, Queen Mum.
Gordon's Gin has always stood for an expressive juniper taste and is very popular with gin lovers. It is ideal for a fine gin and tonic, with a wedge of lime or in a cocktail.
