The rum of the Ron Espero brand stands for the highest quality. The story began with a Spanish explorer, governor and conqueror who crossed Panama from the Atlantic to the Pacific in 1513. He was the first European to reach his goal. After further expeditions, he finally settled on the island of 'Hispanola', now known as the Dominican Republic, and founded his own settlement there.

Ron Espero Ultimo

The Ultimo from Ron Espero is a perfectly balanced blended rum made from up to 15 different types of rum, all of them solera or vintage rums from the Dominican Republic. After blending, further maturation takes place in selected former cognac barrels.
A multifaceted aroma of fruits such as bananas and Caribbean spices such as vanilla or coffee was able to develop. The subtle aroma of the cognac is also noticeable on the palate.

Like Puerto Rico and Cuba, the country was subject to strict fiscal controls by North America in the 1930s and the economy was dominated by gigantic sugar companies that shipped most of the rum produced there to Europe. The brutal dictatorship under Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina, which lasted until the 1960s, caused further problems for rum producers based in the Dominican Republic. In recent decades, however, not only has tourism grown, but the rum brands of the Dominican Republic have also become more well-known. Brands such as Brugal and Barceló are now internationally known and are helping to further strengthen the reputation of rum from the Dominican Republic. The Nicaraguan premium coffee beans from the Matagalpa area are finely ground together with the finest Bourbon vanilla pods from Madagascar and then cold brewed. This produces a fine aroma with less bitterness than hot brewing. The cold brewed coffee is then married with 7-year-old Dominican rum. Espero Ron Balboa is a blend of different rums from Republica Dominicana & Barbados. Espero Extra Anejo XO 0.7L 40% Espero Extra Anejo The blend is a combination of 12 to 18 year old molasses rum from the Dominican Republic with 6 to 12 year old solera rum. The latter comes from various Caribbean islands such as Jamaica, Barbados or Trinidad. After the marriage of these already fantastic rums, the rum is stored for an impressive 18 years during which time it develops into an aromatic, slightly smoky rum with tropical fruit notes. The name alone indicates that this product is very exclusive. The term 'Espero' comes from Spanish and means something like 'hope'; the hope for a particularly fine drop is fully fulfilled here in any case. The abbreviation XO, which is already known from other spirits such as cognac, also stands for the particularly long maturation, i.e. 'Extra Old'.
