The spirit of the Cape

The restaurateur and master distiller Helmut Wilderer, who comes from Baden, emigrated to South Africa in 1994 to start his fruit brandies. There he was the first to receive a license to distill grappa and eau de vie and since then has received several awards every year for handmade pomace and fruit brandies. Creativity and quality are Wilderer's top priorities. So he naturally finds enough incentives in the Cape region, which is one of the world's largest fruit growing areas, to meet his demands. The brandies are triple distilled in a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of over 700 liters.

Produced in harmony with nature

Wilderer sometimes uses unique wild herbs for his spirits that are completely unknown to us in Europe. These include, for example, 'Wild Dagga' (also called wild cannabis, THC free!), 'Buchu', a mint plant, 'Honeybush', and 'Devil's Claw'. The Cape Fynbos Gin contains a total of 33 botanicals from the Fynbos region, which is known worldwide as one of the most species-rich botanical regions. They are all grown sustainably and harvested by hand. Vineyards are usually found next to the Fynbos region, so it is only logical that the base alcohol of this gin is based on white grapes.
In order to achieve a perfect bond between the aromas, the plants, herbs and spices are macerated before distillation.

The taste

A well-rounded taste in the mouth that fills you with pleasant warmth. Despite its alcohol content of 45% vol., the gin is still rather mild.
You can taste deep, complex herbal aromas and a hint of orange zest.
The mixture of the various herbs makes the Cape Fynbos Gin almost indescribable and you should just get an idea of these extraordinary aromas for yourself. The best way to enjoy this fine brandy is of course neat and on ice, but it can also be mixed well with a tonic or something else.

Monkey 47 Dry Gin, 0,5 L, 47%
Monkey 47 Dry Gin 0.5L 47% Gin from the Black Forest The history of Monkey 47 is a success story. The self-proclaimed Black Forest Dry Gin was introduced in May 2010 and quickly gained international renown. It can now be found in the best bars and restaurants in Spain and Great Britain. The history of Monkey 47 No good product without a good story. This is also the case with Monkey 47. According to legend, the British Royal Air Force soldier Montgomery "Monty" Collins ended up in the Black Forest after a stay in Berlin. As the diplomat's son Montgomery spent his childhood in India, he had a great affinity for exotic flora and fauna. This also explains why he adopted a Java monkey from the Berlin Zoo before leaving Berlin. After arriving in the Black Forest, he opened an inn there and named it "Zum wilden Affen" in reference to his adopted monkey. As a British gentleman, Montgomery naturally did not want to do without the most British of all drinks - gin - in his inn. For this reason, he developed a recipe with 47 botanicals. These herbs and spices were based on his own life story and so he combined traditional gin aromatics, such as juniper, with exotic botanicals from India and pure and original aromas from herbs native to the Black Forest. In the 1960s, all trace of Montgomery was lost and with him the recipe for the gin. It was not until the turn of the millennium that an old box with the recipe was rediscovered in the attic of the inn. Alexander Stein, the managing director of the Blackforest distillery, quickly recognised the potential of the recipe and began making initial attempts to produce the gin according to the old recipe. He finally succeeded and so the Monkey 47 Black Forest Dry Gin saw the light of day again. The taste of Monkey 47 All of the botanicals used in Monkey 47 are hand-picked and of exceptional quality. Particularly noteworthy is the use of fresh blueberries, which give the gin an incomparable aroma. After distillation, the gin matures for 100 days in ancient stoneware jugs, which allow oxygen to be exchanged with the environment through fine pores. This allows the aromas in the product to harmonise particularly well. Finally, the gin is reduced with extremely soft spring water to a drinking strength of 47% vol. This old-school gin has a wonderful bouquet of cranberries, spruce needles and cucumber and lime aromas. The aftertaste is characterized by fine floral nuances and remains in the memory for a long time. A great product!

Mombasa Club London Dry Gin, 0,7 L, 41,5%
Mombasa Club London Dry Gin 0.7L 41.5% The history of the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin The history of the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin begins in Africa. It was in 1888 when the Imperial British Africa Company was sent to Kenya to take over the administration of British East Africa for the next few years. At that time, it was common in the British Empire for gentlemen to visit exclusive clubs that were reserved for certain classes. Women were also not allowed into these clubs. Over the years, these "gentleman clubs" also established themselves in the British colonies. It was not long before the Imperial British Africa Company founded its own "gentleman club" in the Kenyan city of Mombasa: the Mombasa Club. The selected members of these clubs indulged in a common passion: gin. This was imported from England especially for the Mombasa Club and was christened Mombasa Club London Dry Gin by the soldiers. The production of the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin Only the highest quality grain is used for the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin. This is distilled four times for the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin and the distillate is flavoured with a variety of botanicals. When producing the modern Mombasa Club London Dry Gin, it was important to the master distiller to bring the character of Africa into the glass. For this reason, he chose exotic botanicals such as cassia bark and aniseed in addition to the typical aromatics such as juniper, cloves and angelica root for the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin. After maceration and further distillation, the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin is bottled in attractive bottles. These are reminiscent of the colonial era with their handles. The taste of the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin You can tell that the heart of Africa beats in the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin. On the nose, the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin has fine notes of cumin, juniper and angelica. Similar aromas can be seen on the palate in the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin, in combination with citrus notes. The aftertaste of the Mombasa Club London Dry Gin is long, refreshing and full of energy. A great gin!

Elephant London Dry Gin 0,5 L
Elephant London Dry Gin 0.5L 45% The history of Elephant London Dry Gin Gin from Germany has experienced a strong boom in recent years. Brands such as Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin and The Duke Munich Dry Gin have convinced gin lovers and experts alike and laid the foundation for other brands. Since then, many products have flooded the market, most of which have not, however, been convincing. The situation is different with Elephant London Dry Gin. It has been produced in Germany since 2013 and is closely linked to the continent of Africa. The producers of Elephant London Dry Gin were not only inspired by the magic of Africa when it came to the ingredients, but also help to preserve the originality of the black continent. For every bottle of Elephant London Dry Gin sold, the manufacturer donates 15% to elephant conservation organizations in Africa, which, among other things, help to preserve the original routes of African elephants. The elaborately designed bottle, with its label in the form of an old African postage stamp, the natural cork and the hand-wound cord, conveys the flair of Africa from the time of discovery. The production of Elephant London Dry Gin The basis for the taste of Elephant London Dry Gin, which is produced near Hamburg, is of course juniper. The other 14 botanicals are rather unusual and mostly come from Africa. The probably least known botanicals are the fruit of the baobab (monkey bread tree), African smoked wormwood, devil's claw and buchu flowers. Components from Germany such as apple are also used, which are distilled in a copper pot still together with the neutral alcohol after maceration. Elephant London Dry Gin is produced in relatively small batches. These are not differentiated by numbers as is usually the case, but are named after elephants that are protected by the organizations. The name of the respective batch or elephant is noted on each bottle. The taste of the Elephant London Dry Gin Just like the botanicals, the taste of the Elephant London Dry Gin is also surprising. The first impression on the nose is floral and fruity and less dominated by juniper than expected. On the palate, the Elephant London Dry Gin then shows its full potential and convinces with notes of pine needles, cinnamon and the sour-fruity aromas of the baobab fruit, which are rather unknown to the German palate. Overall, the Elephant London Dry Gin has a very complex play of aromas, which can also be perceived for a long time in the aftertaste. The manufacturer recommends serving the Elephant London Dry Gin with a slice of apple, as this highlights the fruity notes of the Elephant London Dry Gin particularly well. We can only support this statement and recommend the Elephant London Dry Gin with a clear conscience!

KWV Cruxland Gin 1,0L 43%
KWV Cruxland Gin 1.0L 43% KWV South Africa The year 1918 not only brought a turnaround for politics with the election of the first democratically elected president in South Africa. 1918 is also the year KWV was founded. KWV stands for global product innovations and is one of the leading wine and spirits retailers in South Africa. In these first democratic years, KWV united all the winegrowers in the industry; today the company stands for many top products, whether wine, liqueur or spirits. With a trained eye for a truly exceptional product, Cruxland Gin has proven itself as a new member of the portfolio. A taste experience of a special kind Even the base alcohol is obtained from a different ingredient than usual. It is not distilled from wheat, but from grapes. There are also nine other botanicals, all of which come from the region and reflect the taste and attitude to life of South Africa. In addition to the rooibos, there is also an ingredient called Heuningbos, which means 'honey bushes' in English. The absolute highlight of this gin, which is already a rarity due to its origin, is the use of the Kalahari truffle. This is a rarity and can only be found in the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. In general, the Cruxland Gin has an earthy, spicy character. The taste is very much characterized by herbal aromas, but also has finely balanced fruity notes.

Cape Fynbos Gin Citrus Edition 0.5L 43% South Africa This South African gin is a top product among the gin varieties. It is distilled four times in small batches in small copper stills in collaboration with the Wilderer Distillery in Paarl. Premium juniper berries and 33 other botanicals are added to the base alcohol. They all come from the area and are partly native plants that are picked by hand. The Fynbos vegetation is one of the most famous places for which the Cape region is world-famous. And the water that is used to mix it to drinking strength also comes from the surrounding region, the Franschhoek Mountains, and is pure mountain spring water. Cape Fynbos Gin Citrus Edition The basis of the Citrus Edition is the already well-known Cape Fynbos Gin. This is then macerated with the peels of five different citrus fruits for two weeks. A complex aroma is created and moves between herbal aromas, oranges and spice notes such as cloves and white pepper, rounded off by the sweet taste of honey.
