Ste Civile Agricole de Bologne produces this white rum and is also the oldest distillery on the island of Guadeloupe. The company was founded in 1664 and originally produced sugar.
It's not far from sugar to rum production and after the sugar market almost collapsed and many producers faced ruin, production was switched to high-proof spirits. Bologne Rhum Blanc, which is one of the most popular rums on Guadeloupe, is distilled under the strictest quality controls and matures for 6 months in oak barrels to develop its flavor complexity.
