Mixto Tequila - High-quality tequila at a low price
While 100% agave tequila must be produced entirely from blue agave, mixto tequila may also contain a certain amount of other sugars for alcohol production. Like 100% agave tequila, mixto tequila must come from the Mexican city of Tequila in the state of Jalisco, otherwise it would be called mezcal. Depending on the storage time, a distinction is made between the quality levels silver (blanco), gold (joven or oro), aged (reposado), extra-aged (añejo) and ultra-aged (extra- añejo). Mixto Tequila is used particularly in long drinks or cocktails such as Long Island Ice Tea, Strawberry Margarita and Tequila Sazerac. Tequila shots with salt, lemon or orange and cinnamon are also popular. Well-known Mixto Tequila brands are Sauza, Cuervo, Casco and Sierra.
