The history of De Kuyper
If you are interested in Dutch spirits or liqueurs, you cannot avoid the name De Kuyper. The origins of the now global company go back to Petrus de Kuyper, who produced barrels for the gin industry in his cooperage as early as 1695. His third son Jan de Kuyper finally dared to take the step from supplier to the spirits industry to producer. He opened a small distillery in Schiedam, which was eventually taken over by his sons Johannes and Pieter, who developed the de Kuyper company into the city's most important distillery, among other things by purchasing a large distillery in Rotterdam. The company quickly began supplying foreign markets and was also able to achieve significant export sales. The distillery managed to survive crises that threatened the existence of other companies, such as American Prohibition, the Great Depression, and both World Wars. De Kuyper is now run by the 11th generation of the family and is still considered one of the "global players" on the worldwide spirits market.

The company has always experimented with new flavors, which often means they could bring them to market before their major competitors. One of these examples is De Kuyper Ginger, which is characterized by its finely crafted ginger aroma. The ginger liqueur comes from de Kuyper's "The Distiller's Signature" edition, which stands for particularly aromatic and creative liqueurs. The basis for the ginger liqueur is a distillate made from sun-ripened lemons and fine Jamaican rum. This base alcohol is then combined with Chinese ginger roots. The result is a creation of extreme elegance that not only adds the finishing touch to innovative cocktails.
