About Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky

Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky is one of the great old Blended Scotch brands and one of the most successful whisky bottlings in the world. Black & White Whisky was founded almost 200 years ago by the company Buchanan & Co Ltd, founded by James Buchanan. Black & White was initially marketed as "The Buchanan Blend" and later renamed "House of Commons" because Buchanan managed to sign a contract with the House of Commons. However, as his customers only ever ordered "Black & White" because of the black and white label, the whisky also bore this name from then on. The idea for the famous terriers, a black Scottish Terrier and a white West Highland White Terrier, also came from the founder himself.

Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky now belongs to the international drinks group Diageo and is sold in numerous countries around the world.

The production of Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky

Like all blended Scotch whisky, Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky is made up of numerous grain and malt whiskies. It is difficult to find out the exact composition, but it is known that malts from Glentauchers and Dalwhinnie were used in the past. Since Dalwhinnie now belongs to Diageo, it is likely that this malt whisky is still used to make Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky.

The taste of Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky

On the nose, Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky is floral and almost playful. On the palate, the Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky is a little stronger with a lovely malty sweetness and hints of oak and caramel. The aftertaste of the Black & White Blended Scotch Whisky is not particularly long, but it is certainly pleasant. A blended whisky that you should try at least once in your life!

J & B Rare Scotch Whisky, 1,0 L, 40%
J & B Rare Scotch Whisky, 1.0 L, 40% J & B Whisky The history of J & B Whisky goes back to the 18th century. At that time, Justerini, who comes from Bologna, moved to the British 'big city' of London. Equipped with old recipes for various liqueurs, Justerini's goal was to open his own spirits factory. Luckily, he met George Johnson in London, with whom he was able to open a small wine shop and pursue his dream. When Albert Brooks' business was put up for sale in 1831, they didn't have to think twice and bought the business. Brooks continued to offer advice and support for a while, so that over time they were able to specialize in the distribution of whisky. The taste You might think the makers of J & B Rare whisky are crazy when you hear that this is a blend of up to forty different grain whiskies. Contrary to all expectations, however, J & B Rare is a balanced and well-rounded blended whisky that is one of the most popular Scottish blends.

VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky 1,0L 40%
VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky, 1.0 L 40% VAT 69 - A great whisky classic The Scotch Whisky Vat 69 is as well known as Johnnie Walker, J & B or Black & White. In recent years, the popularity of the Vat 69 Blended Whisky has increased enormously thanks to the TV series "Band of Brothers", but even before that, it was on everyone's lips, literally. The Vat 69 is manufactured in the Scottish capital Edinburgh by the William Sanderson company. The company was founded in Leith in 1863 and was one of the first to offer whisky in bottles. Until then, it was common for pubs and hotels to buy whisky by the barrel and then resell it by the glass. The original shape of the bottle was based on a port wine bottle, as these were particularly robust. William Sanderson began working in the wine and spirits industry at the tender age of 13. At the age of 24, he opened his own business, which his son William Mark Sanderson also joined. Together, the two decided to bring a new blended scotch onto the market and started various barrels, which they tasted together with fellow blenders and friends. The participants chose the barrel with the number 69 - VAT 69 - by a large majority. Not only was a great new blended whisky born, but the right name was also found. The Vat 69 Blended Whisky quickly made a name for itself and was taken by Ernest Henry Shackleton on his famous Antarctic expeditions in 1914 and 1921. The taste of the VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky The Vat 69 is a fruity, light and creamy blend. On the nose, the blended whisky has fine fruity but also spicy aromas. On the palate, the Vat 69 is also spicy and has a fine malt sweetness. The rather short aftertaste reveals aromas of apple, malt and caramel. A great everyday whisky!

Aerstone Single Malt Whisky 10 Yo Landcask 0,7L 40%
Aerstone Single Malt Whisky 10 Years Landcask 0.7L 40% William Grant & Sons William Grant & Sons has made a name for itself in recent years, particularly with the best-known whisky distilleries Glenfiddich and Balvenie. But the company's portfolio now also includes many smaller distilleries. One of these distilleries, which is now under the patronage of William Grant & Sons, is the Ailsa Bay Distillery. The Ailsa Bay Distillery can be found on the grounds of the Girvan Distillery. It is the youngest of all the distilleries in Scotland and was built in just nine months. They exclusively produce whisky for blends from William Grant & Sons here. Lowland Whisky If you compare the Aerstone 10 year old Land Cask with other representatives of the Lowlands, you have to clearly emphasize that this is one of the few representatives of smoky whisky from the Lowlands. This makes it the exact opposite of another product from Aerstone Whisky, namely the Sea Cask. This matured for 10 years in warehouses near the rugged Ayrshire coast and the Land Casks in the Lowlands. The aroma of the whisky matured in the country is between earthy peat smoke and sweet vanilla and candied orange notes. This is also reflected in the taste. A silky soft character that also surprises with salty caramel notes and a splash of fruity, fresh lime. A pleasant note of smoke paired with a not too intrusive fruity sweetness continues into the finish.

Glenalmond Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 0,7L 40%
Glenalmond Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 0.7L 40% Vintage Malt Whisky Co. After several years as export director of one of the best known Scottish whisky distilleries, Brian Crook founded what is now Vintage Malt Whisky Co. in 1992. Since its founding, the company's aim has been to make Scotland's best malt whiskies accessible to independent wine and spirits importers from all over the world. His idea was exactly the right path; today the company is one of the leading independent bottlers in Scotland. Glenalmond Highland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky In addition to typical whisky notes such as vanilla and caramel, the new addition to the Glenalmond distillery also surprises with aromas of malt and honey. On the palate, it surprises with fruity notes such as cherry. Due to the maturation in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, an undertone of spiced wood is always present.

Inver House Green Plaid Whisky 0,7L 40%
Inver House Green Plaid Whisky 0.7L 40% Inver House Distillery The Scottish whisky company was founded by the Americans as a subsidiary in Scotland. Instead of buying into any company, they wanted to try their luck with their own distillery. They bought 'Airdrie' as a base and acquired the old paper mill. They converted this into a very large complex in 1964/65 and were able to start producing malt whisky and grain whisky. The distillery had two lines, Glen Flagler and Killyloch. In the years that followed, the company bought up several well-known distilleries: the Loch Lomond distillery, Catto's, Balbair and many more. It was only when the Americans gave up the distillery that the brand really took off. Inver House Green Plaid The addition 'Plaid' is the Scottish name for the checked wool tartan pattern used for the famous kilts. According to stories, the 'Green Plaid' was worn by the very first Lord of the Isles, a famous Viking warrior 'Tartan' from the 12th century. This can also be seen on the label of the whisky bottle. The Inver House Green Plaid combines all the refinements of the individual whisky distilleries: fruitiness from An Cnoc or malted barley for which Balbair is known.
