In 2006, the Rum Project was born when sugar cane production in Madeira was increasing sharply and a solution was needed to meet the needs of the growing sugar cane sector and help the numerous farmers dedicated to sugar cane cultivation. Driven by the special dedication of one of its founders, a descendant of the Hinton family, former owners and success creators of the "Fábrica do Torreão" in the sugar cane sector, the creation of Engenho Novo in Madeira was born. In the first phase, ENM produced Agricola rum and sugar cane honey to supply the local gastronomy. Later, the transformation of agricultural rum into high-quality products such as liqueurs or aged rums took place. ENM now sources all its agricole rum production from a centenary column still, restored by Fábrica do Torreão in 1969 and restored/rebuilt again by ENM in 2007. The company focuses on two main areas: the regional market and the global marketing of Madeira Agricole rum. The sudden global interest in Agricole rums, which represent only 5% of global rum production, has driven the internationalization and marketing of Madeira rum produced by ENM. The unique geographical location, climate, landscape and historical link with the sector make Madeira Island's agricole rum an outstanding product, the aging of which is ENM's main focus.

Albert Michler Blanc Overproof Rum 0,7L 63%
Albert Michler Blanc Overproof Rum 0,7L 63%

Michlers Overproof Artisanal White Rum 0.7L 63% From here to now The "Michlers Overproof Artisanal White Rum" comes from the beautiful countries of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. The distillery has its origins in Buchsdorf in Silesia, which is now part of Poland. The distillery was founded by Albert Michler in 1863. Shortly after he imported the first Caribbean rums, he was able to win over the royal and imperial family. The current company headquarters is near Wales, more precisely in Bristol. You can still feel the influence from the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, as the aged rums in particular became well-known. These still play a major role in the distillery today, alongside all kinds of delicacies, such as various gins or absinthes. Then as now, quality is essential for the premium distillery. The exotic lifestyle Since the company is not based in the Caribbean, some may wonder how it manages to create a tropical rum. This is only possible through years of experience and good contact in the capital of rum production. With the distillery there and the skills of the master distillers, a unique Blanco rum is created. All ingredients come from the region, more precisely from the two islands of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. The distillery uses only locally grown sugar cane plants to extract the required molasses. The molasses is then fermented and then heated in traditional stills using the pot-still method in order to be able to distill the complex rum. Not only are the raw materials originally from the Caribbean islands, because even the master distillers who produce the end product have their roots there. They bring the necessary experience with them and give the rum that certain something. The exotic attitude to life is one of the decisive factors in how this white rum blend is created from various young spirits. A strong Blanco The rum was only stored for a short time in small white oak barrels in order to obtain a fresh appearance. It is already slightly sharp and estery on the nose. There are clearly pleasant wood and barrel notes that are surrounded by fruity tones. Spices and the typical molasses aroma, mangos, guavas, roasted nuts and citrus fruits are also noticeable, but the main flavor carriers are bananas and esters. The high alcohol strength of 63% ensures a strong taste and invites you to mix it in a cocktail. At the German Rum Award 2016, the complex rum took 3rd place in the overproof category.

La Favorite Rhum Agricole Vieux Privilege pour Lulu 0,7L 41,3%

La Favorite Rhum Agricole Vieux Privilege pour Lulu 0.7L 41.3% La Favorite- Martinique La Favorite is the most special rum distillery still to be found on the Caribbean island of Martinique. It has been operated with the same steam engine since 1906. The distillery has always been a family business; since 1905 it has been owned by the Dormoy family, who converted the distillery into an agricultural rum distillery, but it is still one of the most traditional on the entire island. The new La Favorite is a homage to grandmother Lucienne Dormoy, known as Lulu, who ran the distillery with her husband André for more than 50 years. A special edition is now being dedicated to her on the occasion of her 100th birthday. The result is a full-bodied cuvée made from five vintages and includes a 2000, a 2001, a 2002, a 2009 and a 2010. Tasting The La Favorite character is immediately apparent on the nose. Exotic, candied fruits, especially banana, are in the foreground, accompanied by a subtle cigar note. On the palate, an astonishingly soft rum, despite an impressive 45% ABV. Here, it is mainly oak, mocha and tobacco notes that are in the foreground, but the already familiar fruit aromas are also present.

Savanna Rhum Agricole Blanc Straight Creol Batch No. 2 0,5L 67,4%
Savanna Rhum Agricole Blanc Straight Creol Batch No. 2 0,5L 67,4%

Savanna Rhum Agricole Blanc Straight Creol Batch No. 2 0.5L 67.4% The island of La Réunion, located in the Indian Ocean, is probably one of the best known places for special rum among rum lovers. The Savanna rum distillery located there is particularly known for its diversity. The distillery offers three 'basic' rum styles alone: Rum Agricole, which is made from fresh sugar cane juice, as well as Rum Traditionnel and Rum Grand Arôme. These are individually refined through various storage methods and offered on the market. The Blanc Creol Straight is one of the products in the 'Rum Agricole' style. Unlike brown rum, the Creol Blanc Straight was not aged in wooden barrels, but was bottled at cask strength immediately after distillation (also called 'brut de colonne'). Tasting With such a high-proof bottling, it is always possible that the alcoholic bite will be too strong when tasting. But this is different with this Rum Agricole. Despite the high alcohol content, it is pleasant to drink and gives the aromas plenty of room to develop. At the beginning you can detect sweet sugar cane notes. This is accompanied by anise and spicy notes of pepper.

William Hinton Licor Ginja 0,7L 19%
William Hinton Licor Ginja 0,7L 19%

William Hinton Licor Ginja 0.7L 19% "Ginja" is a traditional liqueur from the village of Curral das Freiras on the island of Madeira. Curral das Freiras, also known as the "Nuns' Corral", was created in the 15th century as a shelter from pirate raids. The village, named after a group of nuns who sought refuge, was for a long time only accessible via steep paths, which contributed to its isolation and preservation of culture and traditions. Legend has it that the original recipe for Ginja liqueur was introduced by Dominican monks in the 17th century and served as a remedy for various ailments. Engenho Novo da Madeira's Ginja liqueur is made from carefully selected sour cherries from Curral das Freiras, which are left to macerate for at least a year in a mixture of Madeira wine, Madeira rum and alcohol. Once the liquid is separated, it is aged for 2 or 3 years in 225-litre French oak wine barrels (ex-Madeira). After the aging process, the liqueur is filtered, bottled and the cherries are placed inside the bottle one by one by hand. Barbeito Sweet Madeira wine is used, made from Tinta Negra Mole grapes aged for three years, and a three-year-old rum aged in Madeira wine barrels. Ginja liqueur is a 100% natural product and is one of the favourite liqueurs of the inhabitants of the island of Madeira. If you have the opportunity, try this liqueur in small cups of dark chocolate! It is a spectacular combination!
