This clan is said to be directly descended from Kenneth MacAlpin, the first King of the Scots, and is considered one of the bravest clans in Scottish history. The MacGregors became famous in 1603, when a cattle raid led to a battle with the rival Colquhoun clan. According to tradition, 200 Colquhouns and only two MacGregors were killed. As a result, the MacGregors were declared outlaws by King James VI and a reward was offered for every dead MacGregor. This law was not repealed by Parliament until 1774. The production of Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky Clan MacGregor Scotch Whisky is a fine Scottish blended Scotch whisky made from a total of 15 different whiskies matured in oak barrels. As is usual with blended whisky, both malt whiskies and grain whiskies were used for this bottling. The grain whiskies give the Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky a certain lightness and a pleasant spiciness, while the proportion of malt whisky ensures a pleasant sweetness and full-bodiedness.
