Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Premiere Cuvee 0.7L 40%
A lesser-known distillery, Maison ReimonenQ is located in the commune of Sainte-Rose in the northern part of Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. Founded in 1914 by Finnish brothers Léopold and Fernand Reimonenq, Fernand is in charge of production and is known for his innovative spirit and commitment to improving the supply of cane sugar while paying strict attention to cleanliness. His son Léopold, born in 1933, continues to attach great importance to the quality of the selected sugar canes and to ensuring that they never touch the ground to ensure the quality of the rum. Léopold Reimonenq was proud to own the first tractor in the region and to introduce the first cane cutting machines in the archipelago. Part of the rum produced annually in the distillery matures in 200-liter oak barrels. The terroir of Basse-Terre is characterized by volcanic soils and dense, moist vegetation, which creates optimal conditions for growing sugar cane.
The Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Premiere Cuvee 0.7L 40% matures for 4 years in oak barrels and presents itself with a dark amber color. A bouquet of tropical fruits unfolds on the nose, accompanied by notes of vanilla and a hint of oak. On the palate, a harmonious combination of caramel, honey and a hint of spices is revealed, leading to a velvety finish that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
