Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Cuvee Fernand D'Or 2009 0.7L 45%
The Maison ReimonenQ, a lesser-known distillery, is located in the municipality of Sainte-Rose in northern Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe. It was founded in 1914 by the Finnish brothers Léopold and Fernand Reimonenq. Fernand, in charge of production, is known for his inventiveness and his efforts to improve the supply of cane sugar, always paying attention to cleanliness. His son Léopold, born in 1933, also attaches great importance to the quality of the selected sugar canes and to ensuring that they never touch the ground to guarantee the quality of the rum. Léopold Reimonenq was proud to own the first tractor in the region and to introduce the first sugar cane cutting machines in the archipelago. Part of the rum produced each year at the distillery is aged in 200-litre oak barrels. The terroir of Basse-Terre is characterised by volcanic soils and dense, humid vegetation, which creates optimal conditions for growing sugar cane. The Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Cuvee Fernand D'Or 2009 is a tribute to Fernand Reimonenq, the founder of the brand, to whom his descendants pay due tribute: without this bold and enterprising spirit, nothing would have been possible!
This Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Cuvee Fernand D'Or 2009 0.7L 45% is distilled from sugar cane juice and aged for 11 years in oak barrels with a capacity of 200 to 600 litres. The result is fruity, woody and spicy notes that give this unique rum its characteristic depth.
