Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Cuvee Quintessence Millesime 2001 0.7L 42%
Maison ReimonenQ, a rather lesser-known distillery, is located in the commune of Sainte-Rose in northern Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe and was founded in 1914 by two Finnish brothers, Léopold and Fernand Reimonenq. Fernand, in charge of production, is distinguished by his inventiveness and improves the supply of cane sugar while ensuring its cleanliness. His son Léopold, born in 1933, insists to this day on the highest quality in the selection of sugar canes and that they never touch the ground, as this could affect the quality of the rum. Léopold Reimonenq was proud to have acquired the first tractor in the region and to have introduced the first sugar cane cutting machines in the archipelago. Part of the rum produced annually at the distillery is aged in 200-litre oak barrels. The terroir of Basse-Terre is characterised by volcanic soils and dense, humid vegetation, creating optimal conditions for growing sugar cane.
Produced by the Sainte-Rose distillery in Guadeloupe, the Reimonenq Rhum Vieux Cuvee Quintessence Millesime 2001 0.7L 42% is a limited edition commemorating the 100th anniversary, with only 2,600 bottles produced. The name "quintessence" refers to the fifth element that complements the four fundamental elements of nature. This rum is characterised by a fruity nose and a full-bodied palate with subtle sweet flavours of pastries and stone fruit.
