History and production of Baker's Bourbon 7 years:

The Jim Beam distillery is undoubtedly one of the most famous and popular whiskey distilleries in the world. The Jim Beam White Label in particular, with its soft, gentle taste, represents the typical taste profile of a Kentucky Straight Bourbon like no other whiskey.

The Jim Beam distillery was founded by Jakob Böhm, who was of German descent. The son of German emigrants moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland at the age of 18 to grow grain. As early as 1788, he produced his first whiskey from surplus grain. A few years later, he moved to Kentucky and operated a water-powered mill there. As payment for grinding grain, Böhm received grain from the farmers, which he used to produce whiskey. Jakob Böhm changed his name to Jacob Beam and in 1795 sold his first whiskey barrel under the name Old Jake Beam. In 1820, Jacob Beam handed over management of his distillery to his son David Beam. Today, the distillery is still in the hands of the Beam family.

The Jim Beam distillery recently released four hand-selected, top-class Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys in the Small Batch Bourbon Collection. Particularly noteworthy is the Baker's Bourbon 7 Years, which goes back to a recipe from the former master distiller Baker Beam, Jim Beam's great-nephew. In addition to the obligatory corn content, 13% rye is added to the grain mash, which ensures a pleasantly spicy start. Storage for at least 7 years in fresh barrels made of American white oak is extremely rare for a bourbon and results in a full-bodied, complex taste.

Only the best barrels from the distillery are selected for the Baker's Bourbon 7 years. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is bottled in so-called small batches with a strong 53.3% alcohol by volume and sealed with black wax.

Taste of the Baker's Bourbon 7 years:

The Baker's Bourbon 7 years has a very dark color that is reminiscent of fine mahogany wood. On the nose, this whiskey is extremely complex and voluminous. Sweet notes such as vanilla, caramel and honey are accompanied by the smell of fresh mint and spicy oak. The rye content provides pleasant roasted aromas and a certain pepperiness.

In the mouth, the Baker's Bourbon 7 years is powerful and complex. The typical bourbon notes are clearly evident, but are complemented by spicy hints of nuts, rye bread and green pepper. The high alcohol content also provides a lot of character. By adding a small amount of water, clear fruit and herbal notes also develop.

The distillery was founded in 1935, shortly after the end of Prohibition. During the energy crisis in the 1970s, whiskey production was stopped in favor of the production of ethanol fuel. However, the rapid return to normal gasoline prices brought an abrupt end to this initiative.
