An Annual Release with Collectible Appeal

Aalborg Jule Akvavit has become closely associated with Danish Christmas traditions. Since its introduction in 1986, a new edition has been released every year, giving each vintage its own place in the series. The 2026 bottling continues this tradition and is an attractive addition for collectors of Scandinavian spirits. It also makes a thoughtful seasonal gift for aquavit enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates distinctive Nordic specialities.

Traditional Botanicals and Distilling Craft

The aromatic foundation of Aalborg Jule Akvavit is built around three classic ingredients: coriander, dill and caraway. Together, they create the characteristic spice profile associated with traditional aquavit. Caraway contributes its bold, unmistakable flavour, while dill and coriander add freshness and herbal complexity. At 47% ABV, this limited Christmas release is full of character, with an intensity that remains balanced by its rounded aromatic profile.

Nose: Caraway, Herbs and Fresh Citrus

The nose opens with distinctive caraway, accompanied by aromatic herbs and lively citrus notes. A touch of pepper adds a gentle spicy edge, while a subtle hint of vanilla brings a softer, lightly sweet dimension. The combination of spice, herbs and citrus creates an inviting and recognisably Nordic aroma.

Palate: Full-Bodied, Robust and Smooth

On the palate, Aalborg Jule Akvavit 2026 is robust and full-bodied, yet pleasantly smooth and harmonious. Caraway provides the main spicy character, while dill introduces a fresh herbal note. A delicate sweetness softens the flavour, complemented by a subtle touch of wood. Despite its 47% ABV, the aquavit maintains a balanced profile in which Nordic spice, herbal freshness and gentle sweetness work together.

Finish: Lingering Warmth

The finish is long and warming, with caraway and herbal notes lingering alongside a delicate woody nuance. Its well-rounded character gradually fades, leaving a satisfying impression that suits the colder months and festive occasions.

Serving Suggestions and Gift Inspiration

Aalborg Jule Akvavit 2026 can be enjoyed neat and lightly chilled. Aquavit is traditionally served alongside savoury dishes and festive meals, making it a natural companion for Nordic-inspired food. Its limited annual release also makes it an appealing gift for fans of Scandinavian spirits. For collectors who follow the yearly series, the 2026 edition offers another distinctive bottle to add to their collection.

With its Danish origins, classic combination of caraway, dill and coriander, and a tradition of annual Christmas releases dating back to 1986, Aalborg Jule Akvavit 2026 brings together authentic Nordic character, seasonal enjoyment and collectible appeal.

Havaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask, 0,7L 40%

Havaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask, 0.7L 40% The surroundings and home Between Norway's mainland and Drammen lies Lier, the green lung of the country and also one of the most fertile regions in the area. This is one of the reasons why Lier is home to so many local farms. Here you can still find very traditional family businesses that work closely with nature and with great care with consideration for future generations. The Kimerud farm is one of them and this is where the Havaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask comes from, which is particularly linked to the history of the company founded in 1785. It is considered a homage, a toast to the master distiller's grandfather, Herold Havaldsen, who toiled as a miner in the Norwegian mountains during his lifetime and fought for freedom in the Navy during World War II. The distillery thus presents a product that it has placed very consciously for itself and that serves as one of its flagship products from the bottom of its heart. The Havaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask and its creation As it was discovered in 2007, the area surrounding the farm offers much more than just plantable soil. A wide variety of fruits, herbs and spices grow in the immediate vicinity, so the idea of using these and creating a product that reflects the landscape, country and people was not far off. The Havaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask uses caraway, coriander, angelica, mint, ginger, orange and lemon peel, some of which are also used in the company's own gin production. The aquavit cuts an impressive figure as an aperitif and as a digestif. When tasting, it shows a scent of fine fresh caraway, strong oak from storage, as well as refreshing orange. The taste seduces with its complexity and the balance between clear oak notes and citrus fruits, paired with the typical caraway. In the finish, you had a very full, characterful aquavit in the glass, which fades away with a long, soft aftertaste.

Arvesolvet Aquavit 1,0L 40%
Arvesolvet Aquavit 1,0L 40%

Arvesolvet Aquavit 1.0L 40% What is Aquavit? Basically, an aquavit is a 'pharmaceutical' term for brandy/spirit. In Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway, aquavit was already mentioned in records in the early 16th century and is more or less THE national drink there. However, there are small differences in the production process between countries: for example, in Sweden, aquavit is made from grain, whereas in Norway and Denmark, potatoes or grain are used as the basic ingredient. There are also subdivisions within the countries into light and dark aquavit. Light aquavit is more typical for Denmark and only matures for 3-6 months in oak barrels. The dark aquavit mostly comes from Norway, where it is often stored in different barrels for several years, which is then reflected in the color and in a stronger taste. Arvesolvet Aquavit This super-premium aquavit comes from Norway, from the Det Norske distillery. After distillation, this aquavit was allowed to mature in fresh Oloroso sherry barrels. Despite the clear caraway flavor, this is not too overwhelming and one does not perceive it as too intense, probably because the maturation in the Oloroso sherry barrel also means that fine, sweet oak aromas are clearly recognizable and soften the caraway flavor somewhat.

Haavaldsen Aquavit Small Batch Triple Cask 0,7L 40%
Haavaldsen Aquavit Small Batch Triple Cask 0,7L 40%

Haavaldsen Aquavit Small Batch Triple Cask 0.7L 40% – Norwegian Aquavit Aged in Three Cask Types Haavaldsen Aquavit Small Batch Triple Cask 0.7L 40% is a distinctive Norwegian Aquavit combining traditional botanicals with a special distillation method and maturation in three different types of casks. As Norway's first Triple-Cask Aquavit, it represents an innovative interpretation of the Scandinavian aquavit tradition. The spirit is based on a carefully produced potato spirit, distilled using a method inspired by the production of a London Dry Gin. The selected herbs and botanicals are distilled together, while pure mountain water is added only after distillation. This approach allows the botanicals to integrate harmoniously with the spirit and creates the deep, expressive character of Haavaldsen Aquavit. Its distinctive botanical profile includes caraway, coriander, angelica, mint and ginger root, complemented by carefully selected orange and lemon peels. The classic caraway character of aquavit meets fresh citrus, aromatic herbs and lively hints of mint and ginger. The defining feature of Haavaldsen Triple Cask Aquavit is its maturation for at least 12 months in three different types of casks. Sherry casks contribute warm and spicy notes, Madeira casks add delicate fruity nuances, while fine French oak provides structure and subtle oak character. The combination of the three cask types creates an unusually layered and distinctive aquavit. Haavaldsen Aquavit also carries a deeply personal family story. It pays tribute to Herold Håvaldsen, the grandfather of the master distiller, who worked as a miner in the Norwegian mountains. During the Second World War, he worked aboard ships and was later taken prisoner of war because of his involvement in the resistance. The Triple Cask Aquavit honors his story, as well as the stories of his fellow miners and fallen heroes. The quality of Haavaldsen Aquavit has also received international recognition: in 2017, Haavaldsen was awarded a Silver Medal at the International Spirits Competition (ISC). On the palate, this Triple Cask Aquavit reveals a deep and layered botanical character. Distinctive caraway spice combines with coriander and angelica, while mint and ginger provide fresh and lively nuances. Orange and lemon contribute subtle citrus notes. The minimum twelve-month cask maturation adds warmth, fruitiness and delicate oak to the botanical profile. Haavaldsen Small Batch Triple Cask Aquavit is an excellent choice for enthusiasts looking to discover a modern Norwegian aquavit with a traditional botanical foundation and distinctive cask maturation. Enjoyed neat as a digestif or explored during an aquavit tasting, it brings together Scandinavian tradition, careful distillation and the influences of Sherry, Madeira and French oak.

Nagu Akvavit 0.7L 38% Nagu Distillery The Nagu distillery can be found in the old 'Flipper Boat Factory' in the very southwest of Finland. The distillery was reopened here in 1996 by two childhood friends. They initially started with their own gin, the 'Small Batch Dry Gin', and in the summer of 2020 other products followed: 'Oak Aged Gin' and the 'Akvavit', followed by the Midsummer Gin in 2021. In Finland, aquavit is often served at crayfish festivals, which can also be seen on the bottle label. Its typical dill and caraway flavors complement the salty, savory taste of the crayfish perfectly.
