Spirits for the barbecue season

Spirits for every treat

No barbecue season without whisky and gin

Germany eagerly awaits the barbecue season every year. It is finally possible to put a juicy steak, delicious fish or other delicacies on the grill in pleasant daytime temperatures. Regardless of whether it's a wood, gas or electric barbecue, whisky and gin are an essential part of the culinary fun. Why? Here are the answers!

A legendary barbecue concept

It's not a prejudice: gentlemen in particular are drawn to the barbecue. And it is also the gentlemen who particularly often enjoy a fine whisky. While the lamb, beef, pork and vegetables slowly reach the right cooking temperature, the host can serve a few different types of whisky, such as Glenfiddich whisky, for tasting. The smoky taste of some whiskies ensures that the exquisite tasting heralds a legendary barbecue evening. It will be remembered for a long time. It is also exciting to taste the different varieties of whisky. What a variety of flavors! For all guests who prefer a different spice on the palate, gin is the perfect choice. On its own or combined with summer fruits, it is a hit alternative.

BBQ marinade with whisky flavors

If you want to take your barbecue experience to the next level, you can pamper your taste buds with an aromatic whisky, honey and thyme marinade. Of course, don't just use any whisky for this, but a quality product. This is the only way to give the marinade its delicious magic. The 15-year-old Glenfiddich whisky is very suitable, as its aromas harmonize par excellence with the other ingredients. These are: 10 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp mango chutney, 2 tbsp salty soy sauce, 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves and 1 tbsp liquid honey. Add 2 tbsp Glenfiddich and a little black pepper to the mix. That's it. It is particularly good for marinating tile meat. What an upgrade for the barbecue season! And what about the whisky bottle? It is best served on the table together with stylish whisky glasses of the nosing glass or tumbler type. Each guest can help themselves to a glass of the first-class spirit to round off the smoky taste of the meat in the whisky marinade.

Reach for the gin

The sophisticated barbecue concept can be enhanced with gin. The spirit is a style-conscious classic at any party, as it can be used to prepare numerous drinks - from spicy to fruity. In addition, some types of gin have subtle herbal notes, which is why they perfectly complement the aroma of grilled meat. To perfect the flavor, guests who enjoy a spicy gin drink should have little marinated meat on their plate. Otherwise the flavors would compete with each other too intensely, which would be a shame. Light and unobtrusive gin drinks are the perfect accompaniment to Nuremberg sausage or heavily marinated meat. They are very easy to prepare, as can be seen from the classic gin and tonic drink. Depending on the desired intensity, the mixing ratio of these two drinks varies between 1:1 and 1:3. As the spirit is truly multi-talented, it can easily be enriched with citrus fruits or berries. This means that all those who prefer a rather unobtrusive drink with a subtle sweetness in the summertime will also enjoy the taste of gin.
