About Ocucaje Pisco

Pisco has a long tradition in Peru, which is closely linked to one man, among others. This is the former President Domingo Elias, who was considered one of the wealthiest and most successful men in all of Peru. Until his death in 1867, Domingo Elias was responsible for driving forward the port expansion in what is now the city of Pisco. It was only the modernized port facilities that enabled increasing export figures and thus the global success of the Pisco spirit. Driven by the positive economic development, many entrepreneurs entered the Pisco industry. Among them were Senor Zunini and Senor Osella, who together founded the company Ocucaje Pisco in 1898.

In 1932, Ocucaje Pisco was finally taken over by Senor Rubini Truel, whose descendants still manage the fortunes of Ocucaje Pisco today. During this time, the company Ocucaje Pisco suffered a number of setbacks, the most serious of which was the state expropriation in 1970. Due to the expropriation of the vineyards, which incidentally previously belonged to Domingo Elias, the vines became overgrown and it took many years to restore them to their former level. However, thanks to exemplary work by the owners of Ocucaje Pisco, it was possible to restore the condition before the expropriation and thus also guarantee the quality of the Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta.

The production and taste of the Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta

Although Ocucaje Pisco is the largest producer of Pisco in Peru, some of the methods used are very traditional. For example, two stills from the 1920s are still in operation and ensure a very authentic Pisco taste.

The Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta is distilled from the Quebranta grape variety, which is known for its aging but elegant taste. The Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta is similar, with a rather mild bouquet but then presenting itself with pure elegance on the palate. The aftertaste of the Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta is very complex and brilliant. The Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta is bottled in a beautifully shaped bottle that is based on a traditional clay figure from the Paracas culture. The Ocucaje Huaco Negro Pisco Quebranta is a visual and taste highlight at every home bar!

Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta, 0.5L 42.5% Pisco - Peru or Chile? While Pisco still has outsider status in Germany, the clear distillate made from grape must is considered the absolute national drink in Chile and Peru. Each of the two countries proclaims to have invented its production and also claims the right to be the sole producer of Pisco. In Chile, only Chilean brandy can be sold under the name Pisco, and the situation in Peru is very similar. The fronts are hardened and the topic of Pisco is repeatedly the cause of legal disputes and arguments between the two countries. Of course, there is no clear and objective answer as to whether the best Pisco comes from Peru or Chile. Especially not when you look at the more than 400-year history. The fact is, however, that the long tradition and the immense passion for Pisco in both Chile and Peru creates outstanding products that are certainly unrivalled in their aroma and taste. Production of the Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta: One of the leading brands in the field of Peruvian Pisco is Ocucaje. Only the best Pisco grapes are used for production; in the case of the Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta, the famous Quebranta grapes are used. These are pressed and the must is then fermented. The name "Mosto Verde" signals that the fermentation is stopped prematurely and a certain amount of residual sweetness remains in the must. This gives a very characteristic taste profile. Furthermore, a special distillation process is prescribed for Peruvian Pisco, which has been perfected at Ocucaje. The fermented grape must is distilled only once and after three months of storage it goes straight into the bottle - without dilution. It is therefore of fundamental importance to use only the best part of the distillate. This requires a great deal of experience on the part of the distillers. It should also be noted that the Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta, like all other Peruvian Piscos, is bottled without additives and comes to your home completely naturally. Many rum producers could certainly learn a thing or two from this. Tasting the Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta: The Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta is crystal clear and, thanks to its drinking strength of 42.5%, wonderfully oily and highly viscous. The nose presents a very characteristic aroma right from the start, which only the Quebranta grapes can provide. The direction is certainly comparable to good pomace, but a much more intense fruitiness emerges. There are also delicate muscatel notes and hints of dried wild berries. On the tongue, the Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta is distinctly fruity and highly complex. The interplay of sweetness, fruit and piquant acidity is wonderfully harmonious. The tannin structure is restrained and very well integrated. The Ocucaje Mosto Verde Quebranta is a pleasure even on its own, but only reveals its true class in a traditional Pisco Sour.

Ocucaje Pisco Mosto Verde Acholado 0,5L 42,5%
Ocucaje Pisco Mosto Verde Acholado 0.5L 42.5% Ocucaje Pisco comes from the highland region of Peru and is produced by Viña Ocucaje SA, which has been producing high-quality wines in its wine cellars for over 110 years. It is located south of the city of Ica in Pisco's Ocucaje Valley. Once a rich ocean, Ocucaje is now a unique piece of land. When the water dried up, the marine fossils that had formed in the water remained on the ground. These make the soil there very fertile and ideal for growing grapes. Pisco is a brandy that is distilled primarily from the must of the Italia grape and also from the Quebranta grape. In comparison to Italian grappa, Pisco is made only from grape must. After the distillation process, this distillate also has to be brought to drinking strength: Of course, only the most obvious product is used here, namely Andean water! Ocucaje Pisco Mosto Verde Acholado This Peruvian grape brandy is a blend of distillates from the Quebranta and Italia grape varieties. These have been perfectly matched. In terms of aroma and taste, Pisco has a lot to offer, but does not drown out the aromas of each other. A clear, fresh taste of citrus aromas and that of the grapes is clearly evident. A fine tropical hint of yellow fruit flows in. It also leaves a lasting impression in the aftertaste with fishy, summery notes.
