The Italian Marco Savio is behind the wonderful Ron Malecon, which has created its place on the world's spirits shelves in its own unique way. The Panama Rum is produced using the Cuban method and each product is made from the same molasses distillate, the only difference being the length of maturation.

Malecon Rare Proof 17 years

The Malecon Rare Proof is the slightly older brother of the Malecon 13-year-old, which was released in a small batch series with brand owner Savio and other experts. The Malecon 17 years also presents itself with a strong alcohol content of 51.2% vol., which is close to cask strength. This was done deliberately, as the aim of this small batch series is to tease out as many aromas as possible through a high alcohol content.

Basically, all products are the same; they are based on the same molasses distillate. The only small, but often subtle, difference is in the storage time! 13-Year-Old Rare Proof This 13-year-old Malecon is a limited small batch bottling from 2066 from Panama. It was created in collaboration with the brand owner Marco Savio and whisky experts. A conscious decision was made to use a high alcohol content of a strong 50.5% vol., as the high alcohol content allows the aromas to come out much more strongly. The aromas are more suited to lovers of fruity whisky: Caramelized pineapple and mango create a great harmony with the aromas of leather, nuts and wood.
