Long Pond - sugar settlement and distillery

The Jamaican spirits distillery 'Long Pond' was founded in the middle of the 18th century and is one of the most influential distilleries on the island alongside Hampden and Monymusk, for example.
The distillery, located in the municipality of Trelawny, is one of the few remaining distilleries on the island that has managed to remain steadfast over the centuries despite steadily falling sugar prices and industrialization.
Long Pond does not have its own clear, recognizable style. By taking over various distilleries, their equipment and their distilling styles, Long Pond is broadly positioned and can therefore now offer a wide range of rum styles.
In general, however, it can be said about traditional Jamaican rum that it is more in the high ester range, although Long Pond categorizes it much more finely than the usual general classification.

ITP/LSO

One of these special 'marks', as these categories are called, is the Distillery Mark 'ITP' - 'Ive Trelawny Pot'. This rum has been distilled at Long Pond since the 1980s and has an ester content of 90-120 (gr/hlpa).
This mark was first mentioned in 2018 by the French independent bottler Maison Ferrand.

Plantation Rum Trinidad 2009 One Time Limited Edition 0,7L 51,8%

Plantation Rum Trinidad 2009 One Time Limited Edition 0.7L 51.8% The new one Trinidad 2009 One Time Limited Edition is a particularly noble and rare drop simply because of its origin. Rum from the Caribbean island of Trinidad is known for its intense and spicy aromas, but products from the former local distilleries are rarely found anymore. So it is all the more pleasing when a bottler has managed to get hold of the limited stocks. This Plantation Trinidad 2009 is also a limited edition. This rum was produced by Trinidad Distillers Limited and, after distillation in Trinidad, matured for 11 years in former bourbon barrels. The rum was then shipped to Europe, more precisely to Maison Ferrand in France, where it was left to mature for another year in ex-cognac barrels. The main aromas are tonka bean, coffee, vanilla and toffee. On the palate there are notes of cooked fruit and roasted nuts. All in all, the 2009 One Time is an absolutely harmonious rum, with other aromas such as pastries and light smoky and woody notes emerging in the long finish.

Plantation Rum Australia 2007 One Time Limited Edition 0,7L 49,3%
Plantation Rum Australia 2007 One Time Limited Edition 0,7L 49,3%

Plantation Rum Australia 2007 One Time Limited Edition 0.7L 49.3% Rum from Down Under We're used to a lot with Plantation Rum and it feels like they've presented rum from all over the world, but there's one place they haven't yet covered, and so Maison Ferrand is presenting the result of their collaboration with the Beenleigh Artisan Disitllery from Australia. The foundation for this excellent rum, which is made from sugar cane molasses with two different yeasts, was laid back in 2007. This was followed by 13 years of maturation in the country of distillation before Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel selected 21 barrels for further maturation. These were then finished for another year in ex-Ferrand cognac barrels under French conditions. Taste The taste is characterised by wonderful notes of stone fruit such as apricots and peaches, which are underlined by vanilla and coconut. Fresh citrus notes and a hint of cocoa are also added. The tropical fruity notes also linger for a long time in the aftertaste.

Plantation Rum Jamaica 1998 CRV Limited Edition 0,7L 49,6%

Plantation Rum Jamaica 1998 CRV Limited Edition 0.7L 49.6% Maison Ferrand - Plantation Rum The independent bottler from France, Maison Ferrand, is responsible for the rum brand Plantation Rum. Special, country-specific rums are bottled under this brand, which are first subjected to a long maturation phase in the country of production and are then ‘refined’ by further maturation in the continental climate of France. Rum Jamaica 1998 CRV Limited Edition As is usual with the bottler Plantation Rum, the first maturation phase takes place in the home country of Jamaica. This special rum was aged for an impressive 20 years in bourbon barrels. It is then shipped to Europe, more precisely to Maison Ferrand in France. Here the rum is allowed to mature for a further 2 years in cognac barrels. As this is not enough, a final, albeit short, maturation phase of ten months follows in former bourbon barrels in which Kentucky Straight Bourbon from the Bardstown Fusion series was previously stored. The tasting notes can best be described on the nose as almond, malt and the aroma of dark berries. On the palate, these aromas follow first and are expanded to include notes of hops. The finish is, as expected, long and intense.

Long Pond 2007 Teca Rum 0,7L 63%

Long Pond 2007 Teca Rum 0.7L 63% Long Pond History You could say that Long Pond is the Jamaican mirror image of the Diamond Distillery in Guyana. In the course of the distillery's history, they have taken over a variety of distilleries or at least their distillery equipment and thus also a variety of rum styles, which they have retained to this day. These different styles are referred to at Long Pond as so-called 'Marks', which stand out clearly from the more publicly known general Marks for Jamaican rum, they are divided more finely in terms of ester content. Long Pond 2007/2019 - 12 year old TECA Jamaica Pure Single Rum This is a rum from the independent bottler 'Velier'. The rum was produced in Jamaica, where it was also allowed to mature for 12 years in American white oak barrels after distillation. The tropical climate has favored both the taste and the color. The TECA has an ester level of 1200-1300 gr/hlpa.
