The history of the La Favorite distillery
The La Favorite distillery is one of the last remaining family distilleries on the island of Martinique. It all started with the cultivation of sugar cane until Henri Dormoy bought the terroir. He wanted to modernize everything and opened a distillery. Then as now, it is equipped with an old steam engine that is still in use.
The Agricole Blanc La Dique 2019 is a white rum agricole made from fresh sugar cane juice. The La Digue plot behind the distillery on the river bank was selected for this purpose. It is an area of three hectares, which was harvested in April 2019. The yield of this sugar cane harvest produced around 7,000 bottles, all hand-sealed with wax and numbered.
Agricole Blanc La Dique 2019 offers notes of fresh sugar cane juice accompanied by a delicate almond aroma.

La Favorite Rhum Agricole Vieux Privilege pour Lulu 0.7L 41.3% La Favorite- Martinique La Favorite is the most special rum distillery still to be found on the Caribbean island of Martinique. It has been operated with the same steam engine since 1906. The distillery has always been a family business; since 1905 it has been owned by the Dormoy family, who converted the distillery into an agricultural rum distillery, but it is still one of the most traditional on the entire island. The new La Favorite is a homage to grandmother Lucienne Dormoy, known as Lulu, who ran the distillery with her husband André for more than 50 years. A special edition is now being dedicated to her on the occasion of her 100th birthday. The result is a full-bodied cuvée made from five vintages and includes a 2000, a 2001, a 2002, a 2009 and a 2010. Tasting The La Favorite character is immediately apparent on the nose. Exotic, candied fruits, especially banana, are in the foreground, accompanied by a subtle cigar note. On the palate, an astonishingly soft rum, despite an impressive 45% ABV. The distillery was founded in 1842 under the name 'Les Jambettes' from the remains of an old sugar refinery. It has only been operating under the name 'La Favorite' since 1851.
