The history of Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky

Clan MacGregor is a Scottish blended whisky produced by William Grant & Sons, the owner of the Glenfiddich distillery. While Glenfiddich whisky is a household name for every fan of malt whisky, William Grant & Sons is also trying to establish itself successfully in the highly competitive blended whisky market with Clan MacGregor. This has so far been very successful with Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky, which was one of the most successful new launches in recent years. The name of this blended whisky goes back to the infamous MacGregor Clan. This clan is said to be directly descended from Kenneth MacAlpin, the first King of the Scots, and is considered one of the bravest clans in Scottish history. The MacGregors became famous in 1603, when a cattle raid led to a battle with the rival Colquhoun clan. According to tradition, 200 Colquhouns and only two MacGregors were killed. As a result, the MacGregors were declared outlaws by King James VI and a reward was offered for every dead MacGregor. This law was not repealed by Parliament until 1774.

The production of Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky

Clan MacGregor Scotch Whisky is a fine Scottish blended Scotch whisky made from a total of 15 different whiskies matured in oak barrels. As is usual with blended whisky, both malt whiskies and grain whiskies were used for this bottling. The grain whiskies give the Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky a certain lightness and a pleasant spiciness, while the proportion of malt whisky ensures a pleasant sweetness and full-bodiedness.

The taste of the Clan MacGregor Blended Scotch Whisky

Straw-gold in color, the Clan McGregor Blended Scotch Whisky shows a characteristic sweetness, vanilla, malt and a hint of smoke on the nose. Then on the palate a subtle fruitiness, malt and oak notes. Overall very soft and velvety and with a long and clear aftertaste. A high-quality and affordable blended whisky!

The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey 0,7L 46%
The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey 0.7L 46% The myth lives on Like many whiskeys, rums, gins, etc., there is often something profound behind the name of the product. Be it a story about old sailors, tales from war or mythology. The Silkie blended Irish Whisky also uses one of these exciting creatures from old Irish or Scottish folklore. This great blended Irish whiskey is supposed to remind you of a mythological creature with its name and its 'irresistible' taste. According to stories, it lives in the water and resembles a seal there, but on land it transforms into 'irresistible' human-like creatures. 'Irresistible' is also the taste of this blended Irish whiskey, which was distilled and bottled for the Sliabh Liag Distillery - Donegal - Ireland. This is how a whiskey was designed that presents notes of fresh fruit on the nose. These include apricot and white grapes. Malt and honey as well as a floral note ensure a fresh whiskey. On the palate, this fruity part is accompanied by honey or syrup wafers, a little violet and a note reminiscent of perfume. The finish is rather short, a slightly bitter note with oak aroma comes through.

Aerstone Single Malt Whisky 10 Yo Landcask 0,7L 40%
Aerstone Single Malt Whisky 10 Years Landcask 0.7L 40% William Grant & Sons William Grant & Sons has made a name for itself in recent years, particularly with the best-known whisky distilleries Glenfiddich and Balvenie. But the company's portfolio now also includes many smaller distilleries. One of these distilleries, which is now under the patronage of William Grant & Sons, is the Ailsa Bay Distillery. The Ailsa Bay Distillery can be found on the grounds of the Girvan Distillery. It is the youngest of all the distilleries in Scotland and was built in just nine months. They exclusively produce whisky for blends from William Grant & Sons here. Lowland Whisky If you compare the Aerstone 10 year old Land Cask with other representatives of the Lowlands, you have to clearly emphasize that this is one of the few representatives of smoky whisky from the Lowlands. This makes it the exact opposite of another product from Aerstone Whisky, namely the Sea Cask. This matured for 10 years in warehouses near the rugged Ayrshire coast and the Land Casks in the Lowlands. The aroma of the whisky matured in the country is between earthy peat smoke and sweet vanilla and candied orange notes. This is also reflected in the taste. A silky soft character that also surprises with salty caramel notes and a splash of fruity, fresh lime. A pleasant note of smoke paired with a not too intrusive fruity sweetness continues into the finish.

Inver House Green Plaid Whisky 0,7L 40%
Inver House Green Plaid Whisky 0.7L 40% Inver House Distillery The Scottish whisky company was founded by the Americans as a subsidiary in Scotland. Instead of buying into any company, they wanted to try their luck with their own distillery. They bought 'Airdrie' as a base and acquired the old paper mill. They converted this into a very large complex in 1964/65 and were able to start producing malt whisky and grain whisky. The distillery had two lines, Glen Flagler and Killyloch. In the years that followed, the company bought up several well-known distilleries: the Loch Lomond distillery, Catto's, Balbair and many more. It was only when the Americans gave up the distillery that the brand really took off. Inver House Green Plaid The addition 'Plaid' is the Scottish name for the checked wool tartan pattern used for the famous kilts. According to stories, the 'Green Plaid' was worn by the very first Lord of the Isles, a famous Viking warrior 'Tartan' from the 12th century. This can also be seen on the label of the whisky bottle. The Inver House Green Plaid combines all the refinements of the individual whisky distilleries: fruitiness from An Cnoc or malted barley for which Balbair is known.

Teachers Highland Cream Blended Scotch Whisky 0,7L 40%
Teachers Highland Cream Blended Scotch Whisky 0.7L 40% Almost 200 years of Scottish tradition In 1832 the so-called "Excise Act" was passed in Great Britain. This made whisky production much easier for companies and William Teacher decided to bring his own blended whisky onto the market. At first he blended his whiskies in a grocery store that he ran with his wife. Business went well and Teacher was quickly able to open his own "dram shop". It was finally in 1863 that he perfected the recipe and brought Teacher's Highland Cream Whisky onto the market. After their father's death, his two sons William Jr. and Adam Teacher took over the business and in 1876 built the company's headquarters as planned by their father. This building was used by the company until 1991! Single Malt Whisky from Ardmore and Glendronach In order to ensure a supply of high-quality single malt whisky, Teacher's opened the Ardmore distillery in 1899. The smoky style of Ardmore whisky guarantees the strong, full-bodied taste of Teacher's Blend. Due to the high demand, the Glendronach distillery was also acquired in 1957. With this additional distillery, sales increased enormously and in 1987 the magical mark of one million cases of whisky was exceeded for the first time - in Great Britain alone! A special Scotch Teacher's Highland Cream is not a whisky like any other. With a malt whisky share of 45%, Highland Cream has one of the largest shares of malt whiskies in the world of blended whiskies. As this share is largely covered by Ardmore, the Scotch whisky has a distinctive smoky note. This is Teacher's trademark and has made it world famous. The golden, slightly amber-colored whisky has a robust maltiness and fruity notes of apples, pears and a light honey sweetness on the nose, which is accompanied by smoky notes. The combination of smoky aromas and the yet gentle taste on the palate delights people around the world. The aftertaste is round and warming and the pleasant taste lingers in the mouth for a long time. A blended Scotch whisky of the highest quality!

VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky 0,7L 40%
VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky 0.7L 40% VAT 69 - A great whisky classic The Scotch Whisky Vat 69 is as well known as Johnnie Walker, J & B or Black & White. In recent years, the popularity of the Vat 69 Blended Whisky has increased enormously thanks to the TV series "Band of Brothers", but even before that, it was on everyone's lips, literally. The Vat 69 is manufactured in the Scottish capital Edinburgh by the William Sanderson company. The company was founded in Leith in 1863 and was one of the first to offer whisky in bottles. Until then, it was common for pubs and hotels to buy whisky by the barrel and then resell it by the glass. The original shape of the bottle was modeled on a port wine bottle, as these were particularly robust. However, a different bottle format is used for this 0.375 L bottling. William Sanderson began working in the wine and spirits industry at the tender age of 13. At the age of 24, he opened his own business, which his son William Mark Sanderson also joined. Together, the two then decided to bring a new blended Scotch onto the market and started various barrels, which they tasted together with fellow blenders and friends. The participants chose the barrel with the number 69 - VAT 69 - by a large majority. Not only was a great new blended whisky born, but the right name was also found. The Vat 69 Blended Whisky quickly made a name for itself and was taken by Ernest Henry Shackleton on his famous Antarctic expeditions in 1914 and 1921. The taste of the VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky The Vat 69 is a fruity, light and creamy blend. On the nose, the blended whisky has fine fruity but also spicy aromas. On the palate, the Vat 69 is also spicy and has a fine malt sweetness. The rather short aftertaste reveals aromas of apple, malt and caramel. A great everyday whisky!

Grand Macnish Blended Whisky Six Casks Edition 1,0L 40%
Grand Macnish Blended Whisky Six Casks Edition 1.0L 40% Grand MacNish Grand MacNish has stood for fine blended malt whiskies since 1863. For founder Robert MacNish, all previous whiskies were too 'hard' and he wanted to create a lighter type of whisky. The 'Six Cask' edition represents the six different whisky regions of Scotland, which couldn't be more different. Only the best barrels from each region were selected, resulting in a balanced yet complex Scotch that will completely convince both whisky lovers and newcomers to this field. The aromas The nose initially reveals hints of smoke paired with slightly floral and fruity notes. This is intended to reflect Speyside and Islay. On the palate, the focus is on the character of Campbeltown and the islands, which are embodied by vanilla, toffee and a slight saltiness. The finish is rich and full of spices, which represents the Highlands and Lowlands.
