Abuelo Rum Anejo is produced in Panama by the Valera Hermanos SA distillery and is light golden in color. Abuelo Rum Anejo was stored for 3 years in oak barrels and has alcoholic notes with medicinal overtones, tones of fresh fruit, vanilla and caramel on the nose. While this rum seems strong at the beginning, with a distinctive spiciness, Abuelo Rum Anejo soon reveals aromas of nuts, caramel, tanned leather and tobacco. Abuelo Rum Anejo Gran Reserva 12 years 0.7L 40% The history of Abuelo Rum Abuelo Rum is produced by the company Varela Hermanos SA, whose history goes back to 1908. At that time, the young Spanish immigrant Don José Varela Blanco built a small sugar factory in the city of San Isidro in the newly formed Republic of Panama. The production of Abuelo Rum Anejo Gran Reserva 12 years The production process of Abuelo Rum Anejo Gran Reserva 12 years begins on the company's own plantations. There, experienced employees take care of the perfect cultivation and care of the sugar cane. Once it has ripened optimally, it is pressed. To produce Abuelo Rum Anejo Gran Reserva 12 years, only so-called "virgin sugar cane honey", i.e. sugar cane juice from the first pressing, is used. This guarantees the very best quality! After this has been fermented, the Abuelo rum is carefully distilled in distillation columns. After distillation, the Abuelo rum is stored for at least another 12 years in small oak barrels. Abuelo Rum 15 Years Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish 0.7L 40% This Abuelo Rum 15 Years Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish 0.7L 40% is part of the exclusive "Cask Finish" rum collection from Varela Hermanos SA, a third-generation family business in Panama and one of the most important rum producers in Central America. The fine sugar cane that provides the molasses as the basis for this rum is grown and harvested on the company's own plantations. After a molasses fermentation of around 2 days, the extensive distillation takes place in various column pot stills. Then the decisive maturation phase for the distillate begins, which lasts an impressive 15 years. First, this maturation takes place in ex-bourbon barrels made of American white oak using the complex Solera process, followed by storage in former ex-Oloroso sherry barrels. This unique combination gives the rum its sherry cask finish, which produces sweet and rich aromas with typical sherry notes of dried fruit as well as its reddish amber color. Notes of sherry, dried exotic fruits, raisins and light wood tones unfold on the nose. The palate experiences something similar, combined with a delicate and sophisticated blend of fruit and smoke.
