Bourbon History
Fine bourbon was first produced in 1812 at the national historic landmark, the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. It matures here in the state of Kentucky for at least 4 years, which entitles it to bear the name Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
The maturation takes place in separate, charred oak barrels. First in a slightly charred barrel, followed by a second maturation phase in barrels that have been charred for twice as long. This creates a distinctly smoky taste that is perceived as a soft, sweet oak aroma.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, first notes of dark fruits, caramel, chocolate and toasted oak. On the palate, these aromas then turn into a full-bodied taste that is characterized by vanilla, caramel, nut and fruit notes and leads to a long, creamy finish.
