Spirits for the beginning of spring & Easter

Spirits start of summer

In spring, nature sheds its winter coat and the first blossoms can be seen on trees and flowers. The world at home becomes more colorful again and so do the spirits. Aromatic fruits - cleverly compressed in a fruit brandy or in cocktails - are further heralds of spring. There's no doubt about it: the spring season will be fruity and floral!

Fruity spirits

In the spring months, the temperatures rise and with them our desire for fresh fruit from the market. In addition to fresh produce, there are spirits that have been made from fruit for centuries. Limoncello, which is often drunk cold in southern Europe, is world-famous. Organic lemons provide an indulgent fusion of sweetness and acidity. Spring drinks also include spirits such as vodka or gin, which have a delicate fruity note. They are enriched with grapefruit or other fruit flavors, making them ideal for creating fruity and floral cocktails.

For Easter: everything revolves around the egg

We involuntarily associate Easter with the egg symbol. There are good reasons for this, which go far back into human history. Historians have theorized that the Persians and Egyptians already used eggs as a symbol of fertility and the renewal of nature. Although our Easter celebration is all about the resurrection of Christ, it also coincides with the arrival of spring. Christians have therefore adopted eggs as a symbol of life and fertility. It is therefore only natural to serve egg liqueur around Easter. Egg liqueur is very easy to make yourself from white rum, or it is best to buy it ready-made as a seasonal product. It keeps well sealed in the fridge for up to four weeks.

Cocktails for spring and Easter

Fruity and floral cocktails are also perfect for the spring season. Liqueur, rum, vodka and gin, which many connoisseurs already have at home, are mainly used for their recipes. Delicious drinks can be made from these basic ingredients with freshly squeezed fruit juices. How about a daiquiri with raspberries? Put frozen fruit in the blender with a dash of rum, a dash of lemon juice and a handful of ice cubes. The fruity delight is ready. A rose martini is a stylish eye-catcher at any party. For this recipe, mix around 45 ml vodka with 40 ml white cocoa cream and a dash of rose water. Three rose petals in a glass, which are untreated and pesticide-free, are used for decoration. Extra tip: Springtime is of course also asparagus season. A gin martini harmonizes well with white, cooked asparagus, as the sour drink goes well with the smooth aromas of the vegetable. The spicy accompaniment to green and grilled asparagus is a smoky tequila.
