Rums that are marketed with the addition or under the Lontan label are fermented for significantly longer (usually between 5-12 days) than conventional rums made from molasses from the Savanna brand. The Lontan rum varieties have a significantly higher ester content than others, which is over 500g per 100 liters of pure alcohol! In this way, you get a rum with a much more intense aroma that can be achieved without the influence of wooden barrels, thus being able to present an aromatically complex white rum. With the distillery's Lontan 57 Rhum Blanc, you experience a little tour of the French island of La Réunion, which lies in the Indian Ocean. The main focus is on fruity, fresh notes. However, there are also other great aromas that you probably wouldn't expect at the beginning of the tasting. A certain, pleasant spiciness comes from mustard seeds, slightly salty notes are reminiscent of olives, which also go hand in hand with the aroma of sugar cane. Other spice notes such as pepper and nutmeg accompany this great aromatic journey. The finish again shows clear fruity notes.

Savanna Rhum Traditionnel 2022 Bois Rouge 0.7L 57% On the coast of the Indian Ocean, at the foot of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano, the Savanna distillery has been handcrafting rare rums since 1870. After more than a century at the Domaine de Savanna, nestled in the foothills of the island's west coast, the distillery moved to the "Bois Rouge" site in Saint-Andre on the east coast in 1992. Released in 2022 in a limited edition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this event, this old Agricole rum is a blend of six carefully hand-picked barrels. The nose opens with slightly minty vegetal tones, followed by tropical fruits and subtly spicy vanilla notes. The palate is lively, smooth and spicy, returning to fresh sugar cane.
