The ouzo from the port city of the same name, Mytilini on Lesbos, is a true cult product in Greece. It is also a thoroughly regional product, because the herbs and spices needed for its production, such as anise, also come from the small island of Mytilini. In order to achieve the intense, unique taste, these are slowly cooked in a copper kettle for several hours.
