The Hernö Gin Distillery was founded by Jon Hillgreen, who worked as a bartender in London with some friends in the late 90s. During this time he got to know and love gin and tasted over 100 different bottlings. The great variety fascinated Hillgreen and he decided to delve deeper into the subject. He therefore visited numerous distilleries in the country and exchanged ideas with the master distillers of the individual distilleries. Over time, the decision grew to set up his own gin distillery. Hillgreen had the Hernö Gin Distillery built in the classic Swedish style with white and red painted wooden beams. The distillery is located in the small town of Dala near the town of Härnösand in Ångermanland, making it the northernmost gin production facility in the world! The Hernö Old Tom Gin (ORGANIC) In England, Hillgreen also got to know Old Tom Gin. A slightly sweet gin that was mainly drunk in the 19th century. He wanted to bring this old style of gin to Sweden. Like the "normal" Hernö Gin, Old Tom Gin is made from eight different - organically grown - botanicals. The meadowsweet used is, however, dosed more heavily and the gin is then sweetened with a little honey and sugar. The small Hernö Gin Distillery is the northernmost gin distillery in the world and is located in the village of Dala near the town of Härnösand in Ångermanland. The Hernö Navy Strength Gin Like the "normal" Hernö Gin (organic), the Navy Strength variant is produced in the style of a London Dry Gin. The basis is high-quality grain alcohol, which is flavoured with eight different botanicals. All botanicals used are organically grown. The peels of hand-peeled lemons are used, as well as juniper berries from Hungary, cranberries from Sweden, coriander seeds from Sweden, black pepper from India, vanilla from Madagascar, spice bark from Indonesia and meadowsweet from the United Kingdom. In contrast to the standard bottling, the Hernö Navy Strength Gin is bottled at a strong 57% vol. This makes it not only suitable for those who want something a little stronger, but also more aromatic. Because the gin contains less water, it contains more aromatic substances such as the distinctive notes of juniper and lemon peel! Hernö Juniper Cask Gin - A special organic gin from Sweden Since 2011, the northernmost gin distillery in the world has been located in the Swedish town of Dala, near the town of Härnösand in Ångermanland. We are talking about the Hernö Gin Distillery, which was founded by the pioneer Jon Hillgreen. In 1999, Jon Hillgreen worked as a bartender in London with some friends. During training courses in the catering industry, he had the opportunity to try over 100 different gins. The variety excited him and he decided to delve deeper into the subject. In the following months, Jon Hillgreen visited numerous gin distilleries in England and began to look into the technological side of gin production. He quickly realised that he wanted to produce his own gin, which is why he finally put his plan into action in 2011 and founded the Hernö Gin Distillery! The Hernö Gin Distillery was built in the classic Swedish style. The building's striking red and white painted wooden beams can be seen from a long way away and suggest that something special is being created here. The Hernö Juniper Cask Gin The Hernö Juniper Cask Gin is the first gin in the world to be fully matured in barrels made from the juniper tree! The small barrels have a filling volume of just 39.25 litres and were made by hand. The gin, which is made entirely with organically grown botanicals, gets its very own juniper note through this type of barrel maturation, which is not comparable to that of classic bottlings. In addition to juniper, other typical gin aromas such as nuances of citrus fruits are of course noticeable. But the Juniper Cask Gin from Hernö is not only a highlight in terms of taste, but also in terms of appearance! The neck of each individual bottle is dipped four times by hand in beeswax to give the bottle a special look! This special gin is currently very popular in the gin scene and is sought after by connoisseurs worldwide due to its limited availability!

Hernö Sloe Gin (organic) 0.5L 30% Hernö It all began in 1997 when the young Swede Jon Hillgren went to London, worked in various bars and discovered the world of gin for himself. After a few years had passed and he obtained a university degree in political science and worked as a bureaucrat, dreams of gin crafting developed. In 2011 the time had come: With the encouragement of a good friend and the support of his wife, Jon Hillgren turned his love of gin into a profession. They bought an 18th century farm in Dala. Dala is somewhat isolated, but that is exactly what makes it so fascinating and leaves a lot of room for inspiration and for dreams to come true. In 2012 Jon received financial support from his family and friends and was able to found Sweden's first gin distillery. As there had been no Swedish gin in Sweden, and especially in Dala, Jon Hillgren was initially very pleased with the response from his compatriots. They lined up in Härnösand to be among the first to own a bottle of the newcomer. Today, Hernö Gin can be found on the shelves of up to 24 countries. Sloe Gin In the world of gin, there are many different variants. There is the well-known London Dry Gin, the New Western Dry Gin and the Sloe Gin. The latter is also Hernö Sloegin Bio. This type of gin is special; it is characterized by its dark red color, which comes from the use of sloes. Hernö Sloe Gin Bio is based on Hernö Gin and is refined with organic sloe berries and local honey. Hernö Gin matures for a total of three months together with the sloe berries, is then pressed and bottled in the distillery's characteristic bottles. A fruity taste that is somehow reminiscent of jam, but which harmonizes perfectly with the typical juniper notes and could not have been better balanced. Fruity and nutty aromas remind you of this special Sloegin from Sweden for quite a while.

Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin 2018 0.5L 46.8% Hernö Hernö Distillery is the first gin distillery in Sweden. The story began with a passion for gin and the resulting dream of crafting your own gin. The distillery is based in Dala, somewhere almost in the middle of nowhere in Sweden and yet in the gin world, where the founder Jon Hillgren bought an old 18th century farm in 2011 and converted it into the Hernö Distillery with the support of his family. Dala has a natural beauty and always inspires with its diverse flora and fauna, which always gives Jon the strength to keep dreaming and turn these dreams into fantastic creations. In 2012, Hernö Gin was introduced in three local Systembolaget stores. People lined up to get a bottle of this incredibly good gin that everyone was talking about. In 2013, Hernö Gin became the most awarded gin at the International Gin Masters 2013 and thus achieved its international breakthrough. In order to meet the new high demand, the company had to expand. By selling shares to gin enthusiasts, a new distillery with a visitor center was built. Taste notes The distillery's award-winning gins are made exclusively from organically grown, natural botanicals. Only around 400 bottles of this edition, Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin, were bottled. In 2000, Sweden's High Coast was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Shaped by the last ice ages, you can find a great variety of flora and fauna there. It was precisely these extraordinary herbs, spices and berries that were intended to be brought to the customer in the Hernö High Coast Terroir Gin. All botanicals used for distillation were hand-picked on the High Coast. Rowan berries, willowherb, spruce shoots and hops are used in this gin. These are intended to give you the feeling of a leisurely walk in the forest and conjure up a piece of the rugged coast in the glass. On the nose you primarily smell juniper, on the palate it is more spicy and herbaceous, you can detect a slight sweetness from spruce shoots. Rowan berries and hops are more in the background, along with a little citrus freshness. In the finish, the juniper taste lingers on the palate with a pleasant sharpness.
