Spirits on Valentine's Day
Spirits for a romantic day
On February 14th, it's Valentine's Day. It's the perfect time to think about how to make your loved one happy this year. The celebration of love is meant to keep feelings flowing or rekindle them – in our article, we give tips on which spirits make particularly good Valentine's Day gifts.
Valentine's Day, named after a saint, has been celebrated since the 14th century. Part of the ceremony is to give each other a heartfelt Valentine's Day gift. It doesn't always have to be just flowers and chocolates – what's important is that the giver shows their affection by considering the preferences of their beloved.
Spirits can make an exclusive Valentine's gift. Especially if not only the type of alcohol is right, but also the quality, design, and the way the gift is presented, all chosen appropriately for the occasion.
One option is to choose a drink that both of you associate with a special event. Perhaps the drink you first shared together at a bar. Or a drink from your first vacation together, whose magic can now be recalled with a Danish aquavit, a Spanish sherry, or an Austrian cherry brandy.
Spirits: Valentine's gifts for connoisseurs
A high-quality whisky is a great choice as a Valentine's Day gift because connoisseurs tend to enjoy it only occasionally. This means the bottle lasts longer and serves as a lasting reminder of the person who gave it.
For a special occasion like Valentine's Day, a Single Malt Whisky from Auchentoshan is a suitable choice. Its nutty aroma and stylish design contribute to its appeal.
Gin, while similarly high in alcohol content as whisky, is often used for mixing, so you need only a little to create a Valentine's drink. The imaginative bottle designs often reflect the taste and gender of the recipient, making it easier to choose.
Those who enjoy playing with the significance of pink and blue will find delightful editions with fine flavor variations ranging from cherry blossom and hibiscus to green tea.
A liqueur can also be chosen according to the recipient's taste preferences, whether fruity, creamy, or bitter. Liqueurs are often served with meals or with coffee and cake. Why not prepare a beautiful arrangement with a festively decorated table, where the gift-wrapped bottle can be a charming accent?

Favorite Recipes: A Cocktail as Red as Love
Red is the color of love and, accordingly, the preferred color for a stylish Valentine's cocktail. The occasion can be visually and tastefully enhanced by adding flower petals and fruits. A popular recipe is the Red Pina Colada, for which the following ingredients are mixed in a shaker and served over ice (quantities for 2 glasses):
• 6 cl white rum, e.g., Tiki Lovers White Rum
• 2 cl red fruit liqueur
• 20 cl pineapple juice
• 4 cl coconut syrup
• 2 cl cream
Decorated with rose petals or mint leaves, the cocktail becomes a declaration of love and the perfect start to a beautiful evening together. For an easier version, you can replace the white rum with a coconut rum liqueur and just add a little red fruit liqueur.
