'Tequila' from the Black Forest
If you are wondering whether it is really true that a 'Tequila' can be made in Germany, you have read correctly. However, it should be said that this product cannot be called 'Tequila', because only agave liquor that was also produced in Mexico can be called that.
For the Selva Negra, 100% agave extract is extracted from the Salmiana Agave in Mexico and exported to Germany unfiltered and preserved. Once it arrives in the beautiful Black Forest, it is fermented and mixed with a special yeast. This mixture is then distilled twice.
What makes the Selva Negra agave schnapps taste different from other comparable products?
Well, first of all, it is of course a special thing when you hear that it comes from Germany. But it also tastes different from its competitors. The inventors behind Selva Negra wanted to incorporate the taste of the Black Forest and so their tequila was influenced by Black Forest spruce.
