The basis of this gin is made up of juniper berries, orris - violet roots and hinoki - a type of cypress, as well as citrus fruits: lemons and yuzu. The two main roles in this gin, however, are played by the types of tea used: Tencha and Gyokuro They form the heart of the gin. Tencha is a Japanese green tea that is mainly processed into matcha tea. Gyokuro is also a green tea and is considered the highest quality green tea in Germany. Both come from the Uji region in Japan and ensure an intense aroma with a pleasant sweetness. Both varieties are shaded shortly before brewing, i.e. the sunlight is reduced. This means that the tea bushes produce more chlorophyll, which ultimately leads to green leaves and an even greener tea infusion. This also means that the bushes produce fewer catechins. Plants actually use this substance to protect themselves from too much sunlight. A lot of catechins in the tea gives it a yellowish color and leaves a certain bitterness. So shading the tea bushes = better green color and fewer bitter substances in the tea. Tasting Initially a sweet, delicate bouquet on the nose. Sweet scent of spicy juniper but also white chocolate and citrus aromas. A pleasant sweetness develops on the palate and you are again surprised by gentle tones of white chocolate, followed by pronounced juniper aromas and gentle citrus notes. In the motherland of gin, England, a distillate made from grain is usually used, or in Germany, for example, from potatoes, but the Tokyo Nights Japanese Gin has a completely different base alcohol. For this, molasses is distilled from sugar cane, as is usually the case with rum. The Tokyo Nights Japanese Gin takes the taster into the nightlife of Tokyo, where you can experience something special around the clock. In addition to classic spices and herbs such as juniper, the gin itself contains some unknown local botanicals that are typical for Japan. These are macerated in the base alcohol to create an intense aroma. The taste of the Japanese gin is well balanced and, in addition to the classic juniper notes, impresses with spicy and herbal notes. Slightly fruity undertones are also noticeable, here they probably come from local citrus fruits such as yuzu or similar.

Kiyomi Japanese Rum 0.7L 40% The Helios distillery, located in Nago City in the northern part of Okinawa Prefecture, was founded in 1961 and has had a long history of spirits production since then. The founder, Tadashi Matsuda, attached great importance to the fact that the products were made exclusively from local ingredients, especially sugar cane from the nearby plantations. This principle has been maintained over the years and is still an indispensable part of the company philosophy today. Today, the third generation is already working in the distillery, led by Ryo Matsuda, Tadashi's son, and his daughters, who are devoted to producing authentic and high-quality spirits. The Kiyomi Japanese Rum from Japan, whose name loosely translates as "pure beauty", is distilled in the column style. This aromatic white rum impresses with an exotic aroma of pineapple and a hint of smoke. On the palate it is fruity with notes of citrus fruits, while the finish is powerfully sweet and contains a light peppery note.
