Marauda Steelpan Premium Rum 0.7L 40%

Marauda Rum LLC is the proud bottling company of Marauda Steelpan Premium Rum, which positions itself online under the slogan "The return of the honest rum". The company's goal is to create an affordable rum that is ideal to enjoy neat. The result is Marauda Steelpan Premium Rum, a blend of rums from different origins, all made in the traditional way from high-quality molasses - a byproduct of sugar production from sugar cane. These rums come from Trinidad, Jamaica and Guyana, three countries with a long tradition of rum production, each with a unique style. The journey begins in Trinidad, where a rum is aged for three years and serves as a base to create the perfect harmony. From there we travel to Guyana to add another three-year-old rum from the still Demerara distillery process. This gives the blend a robust and distinctive depth. Finally, our journey takes us to Jamaica, where a heavy pot still rum also matures for three years and gives the blend its distinctive, "funky" note.

Each rum in the Steelpan blend is distilled and matured using traditional methods, without the addition of additives or coloring. All of these rums mature in 53-gallon bourbon barrels made from American white oak and used only once for bourbon whiskey. The result is a rum of incomparable quality and sophistication that delights the senses and celebrates the true art of distilling.

On the palate, this Marauda Steelpan Premium Rum 0.7L 40% presents itself with fine notes of exotic dried fruits, honey, tobacco and vanilla. A potpourri of various fruits is enveloped in a gentle sweetness. The finish is surprisingly long and complex for a rum in this price range, with subtle hints of vanilla and oak wood.

El Dorado Rum 12 Years, 0,7 L, 40%
El Dorado Rum 12 Years 0.7L 40% Guyanese Rum El Dorado Rum 12 Years comes from the South American state of Guyana, which borders Brazil, Suriname and Venezuela as well as the Atlantic. Although Guyana only has a population of around 750,000, the small country can look back on an eventful history in the production of rum. In the heyday of rum production, almost every sugar cane plantation in the country had its own distillery. Of the 200-300 distilleries that once existed, only one remains. But how did the once flourishing industry decline so sharply? To understand this, we need to take a look at the history of the country. The history of rum from Guyana The history of Guyanese rum is closely linked to that of the British Navy. In the 18th century, the three colonies of Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice in Guyana were owned by the Dutch crown. After a slave revolt in 1763, however, their ownership changed hands between the French, Dutch and British. The British were the ones who built the first sugar cane plantations to produce spirits. They needed the liquor for their ship crews. As it was impossible to keep drinking water sterile on long crossings at the time, each sailor was given a ration of 0.5 liters of rum per day to make their water drinkable. The demand was so enormous that more and more plantations and distilleries were built in Guyana, eventually reaching the aforementioned number of 200-300 distilleries. However, due to improved hygiene conditions and microbiological findings, rum on board ships became increasingly pointless and daily rations were steadily reduced. After a long period of being purely traditional, the last rum was finally served on board British ships on July 31, 1970, the so-called Black Tot Day. The ban on rum on board ships also sealed the fate of the distilleries and the last remaining distilleries gradually closed their doors. Only Demerara Distillers remained. However, this distillery is no ordinary one, as many famous stills from the closed distilleries were collected there. These old pot stills and continuous stills are not museum-like, but are still in operation, allowing Demerara Distillers to produce a variety of different rum styles and keep the myth of Guyanese rum alive. El Dorado Rum 12 Years The El Dorado 12 is probably the best-known rum from Demerara Distillers. It was the first rum that company boss Yesu Persaud brought to market. He had the vision early on to create a rum that stood out from the often overwhelmingly heavy style of former Demerara rums. He succeeded in doing this with the El Dorado, which, in addition to the heavy molasses tones, also has fine fruity aromas of orange and pineapple. El Dorado Rum 12 Years is an outstanding rum that is a real treat both neat and in cocktails and long drinks. Absolute recommendation!

Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum, 0,7 Liter 40%
Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum, 0.7 liters 40% Rum from Mauritius Rum from Mauritius is a rarity. There are currently three active distilleries on the island state, which is only 2,040 km² in size. But this was not always the case. In 1878, 37 distilleries on Mauritius were still actively producing rum. This was due to the boom in the sugar industry in the late 19th century, which caused the number of rum distilleries to rise sharply. However, when the sugar beet industry boomed in Europe a few decades later, the number of sugar cane plantations and thus also rum producers declined. Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum The Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum is not wrongly considered one of the best rums on the island. The gold-colored premium rum is made from molasses, which is a typical by-product of the sugar industry. After the molasses has been diluted with water, yeast is added. By adding water, the molasses is reduced to a sugar content that the yeast can optimally process. For this reason, the yeast starts working shortly after being added and metabolizes the sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. This is followed by distillation to increase the alcohol content of the mixture. This takes place in column stills. After distillation, the Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum matures in oak barrels, where it harmonizes its taste and absorbs fine aromas from the wood. It is then adjusted to an alcohol content of 40% vol. and bottled in the shapely and distinctive bottles. On the nose, the Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum shows fine notes of banana, sugar cane and rock candy. On the palate, nuances of oak, dried fruit, tobacco and papaya can be detected. The aftertaste is of medium length and remains in the memory. A beautiful rum that is suitable for many occasions. The Gold of Mauritius Dark Rum not only goes perfectly with a light cigar but also serves as the basis for numerous excellent drinks such as the Old Cuban.

Cane Island Jamaica Superior Reserve Aged Rum 0,7 Liter 40%
Cane Island Jamaica Superior Reserve Aged Rum 0.7L 40% Cane Island has set itself the goal of presenting the diversity of rum in all its facets, listing the different variations and paying homage to all of the diversity. Already in its name, Cane Island devotes itself to rum by referring to the "sugar cane island" to unmistakably indicate what it is about - rum. Sugar cane, as the basic product for production, is widely known in general alcoholic basic knowledge. The harvest of this basic raw material takes place in the first months of the year, often from February. The grass, which visually resembles a mixture of bamboo and reed, must first mature for 10 to 12 months to a length of about 4 meters. It is then cut off just above the ground with a machete or cutting machine. However, only the stems are needed for further production. Therefore, all the leaves are often cut off directly in the field and only the canes themselves are transported further. Immediately after the harvest, the sugar cane juice is extracted by finely cutting and pressing the canes. This juice is either used directly for production to produce the AOC-protected Rhum Agricole, or further intermediate steps and strong reduction of the juice are used to obtain the molasses that is used for the majority of the world's rum production. The Cane Island Jamaica Superior Reserve Aged Rum 0.7L 40% comes from this molasses and is a sophisticated blend of the distillates from four distilleries, all based in Jamaica. This copper-brown Caribbean rum is based on the pot still distillation process. The Cane Island Jamaica Blend Rum impresses with its particularly deep and complex character. It is characterized by a typically Jamaican balance between fruity notes and the bourbon wood accents that arise from storage.
