The Hooghoudt Aged Genever 23 Years Single Cask is the result of an exceptional maturation process. This jenever, which is 100% malt wine, was matured for 23 years in exquisite ex-Oloroso casks and bottled at cask strength. In 1998 it was casked by Hero Jan, a member of the third generation of Hooghoudt, after which the copper kettle was retired. Now, 23 years later, it is bottled by Bert, a member of the fourth generation, while he and his children put the finishing touches to a new distillery as part of the GrainRepublic in Bad Nieuweschans.
