The origins of the company from the 1920s lie in this blend. In 2012, a British couple made a special discovery in their cellar: a bottle of Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend, dating from sometime between 1924 and 1928. The couple contacted the company, which bought the bottle for the company archives. Inspired by this special discovery, the forgotten blend has now been brought back to life.
The Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend can be used to create wonderful cocktail creations.
Two Gentlement of Heritage – a whisky lemon cocktail that embodies the depth and substance of the Hankey and Bannister couple:
- 40 ml Hankey Bannistser Heritage Blend
- 20 ml Aperol
- 15 ml Aelder Elderberry Elixir
- 15 ml lemon juice
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a coupette, ideally 'rinsing' the coupette with an Islay whisky beforehand.
Teatime Bannister – a new interpretation of the Old Fashioned
- 40 ml Hankey Bannister Heritage Blend
- 20 ml cooled black tea
- Cocchi Torino for pouring over
- 5 ml Cross Brew coffee liqueur
- 5 ml white cocoa
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and serve in a classic whiskey glass with ice.
