The Depaz distillery on the idyllic Caribbean island of Martinique, in operation for almost 400 years, extends over extensive sugar cane plantations. Thanks to its location at the foot of the Montagne Pelée, it benefits from volcanic soil and plenty of water, ideal conditions for the production of exquisite Rhum Agricole directly from fresh sugar cane. The Depaz Special Reserve VSOP Agricole Rhum underwent a lengthy maturation phase in selected, old oak barrels, which gives this rum an impressive variety of aromas and a delicate character.
The color of the rum is light mahogany. The nose reveals a complex abundance of aromas with tempting notes of chocolate, roasted nuts, tobacco, licorice, plum, vanilla and sweet oak. On the palate, the Depaz Special Reserve VSOP Rhum shows similar nuances; it is round, balanced, of great finesse and with a pleasant aftertaste.
This outstanding quality of the Depaz Spécial Réserve Rhum VSOP was awarded the gold medal at the general agricultural competition in Paris in both 2009 and 2012. A true masterpiece of Caribbean tradition and craftsmanship.
