Deanston Kentucky Bourbon

Anyone who thinks that bourbon always has to be American is mistaken. Deanston Kentucky Bourbon actually comes from the birthplace of whisky, Scotland. The distillery, which is relatively young for whisky, was only built in 1965 in the community of Deanston.
There were already some good conditions on site that were ideal for setting up a distillery. The distillery was built on the foundations of an old cotton factory, and the old cotton mill from this was still there and was extensively converted so that it could continue to be used.

Kentucky Bourbon Cask Matured.

For the Kentucky Bourbon Cask Matured, the whisky from the Scottish Highland region was matured in 1st and 2nd fill barrels from a renowned Kentucky distillery. Unfortunately, we do not know how long this finish lasts, but it must not have been too short, because the whisky has a strong and full-bodied aroma. The aroma is initially reminiscent of crème brûlée with its slight sweetness, refined with almond aroma and flavor. The palate then reveals a more complex and, above all, full-bodied bourbon. It proves to be very creamy on the tongue. Notes of caramelized pears and apples as well as oak and a hint of cinnamon can be recognized before it turns into a long-lasting finish with notes of oak and barley.

Deanston Virgin Oak Malt Whisky 0.7L 46.3% The Scottish malt distillery Deanston is located just above the famous Highland line and has been producing whisky since 1966. In addition to whisky, the distillery also produces other spirits such as gin and vodka. With two wash stills and two spirit stills, the distillery has an annual output of around 3,000,000 l.This single malt was finished in new barrels made of American white oak and was not chill-filtered. This gives it an intense bouquet of freshly cut wood, apple, lemon peel and vanilla. Aromas of toffee, honey and sweet malt are noticeable on the palate. In the long aftertaste, clear notes of fresh wood are again present. An exciting whisky for individualists!

Deanston Single Malt Whisky 10 Years Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish 0.7L 46.3% A strong community There is a small community behind Deanston and it represents the people who have made the company what it is today. The actual history of the distillery, however, begins in 1785 with an old cotton mill that was opened on the banks of the River Teith by Richard Arkwright. During these years, agriculture changed to industrialisation and Arkwright later became one of the fathers of the industrial revolution. The company developed very well and the number of employees grew. In order not to lose them again, it was necessary to think of accommodation for new employees. This is how the idea came about to build a self-contained village. This has been preserved to this day and continues to form the centre of Deanston. It was not until 1965, when the cotton industry slowly declined, that the number of employees also gradually decreased. Instead of giving up the company altogether, it was also of great value for the community to start anew with a new craft! Deanston 10 YO Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish After the distillation process in 2006, the whisky was first matured for 8 years in ex-bourbon casks and then finished for two years in old red wine casks from Bordeaux. This whisky has a lot of volume, with strong sherry and alcohol notes on the nose. Deanston is known for the fresh honey sweetness in every whisky and this note can also be found in the 10 YO Bordeaux. Honey, caramel and sweet malt combine with red wine and a hint of citrus aroma. The aftertaste is a persistent fruity sweetness combined with a subtle spiciness.
