Cardhu 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky Special Release 2021 0.7L 55.5% The Story of Legends Untold 2021 For 2021, the global manufacturer and distributor of alcoholic beverages Diageo has come up with a very special special release. The series contains eight whiskies from seven distilleries, each from four different whisky regions in Scotland. The distilleries' stocks were searched through and a mixture of 8- to 26-year-old whiskies was chosen to present to the customer. Each whisky has undergone a unique maturation process and is inspired by the respective mythical creatures that, according to legend, can be found in the respective whisky regions and around the distilleries themselves. Special Release Cardhu The bottling of the Cardhu distillery represents the mystical world of Scottish legends and myths that exist around the distillery. The label of the Cardhu bottling already gives a small insight into this world with its distinctive, colorful and mystical nature. The bright red tree shown is reminiscent of Scarlet Blooms Of Black Rock: a mysterious, bright red tree grew out of a hill of black rock. It was enveloped in a fine honey scent mixed with beguiling spice notes. When the tree lost its leaves and died, a distillery was created. These aromas of this legend have now been captured in the Legends Untold Cardhu! Behind the 2021 Reales is a 14-year-old Cardhu, which is characterized by gentle aromas. The texture is irresistibly soft, followed by a sweet taste reminiscent of toffee. Floral notes with a pleasant honey sweetness round off the taste.

A majestic phoenix, its wings of fire stretching upwards, brought new life to the Lagavulin distillery and enhanced the spicy intensity of this whisky. Lagavulin, the site of numerous legends, once sat enthroned in a rocky cove that housed the castle of the Lords of the Isles. This castle, a symbol of past rule, gave the distillery increasing popularity - a king destined to rule. This prized Islay malt is made at the roots of distilling and carries an intense, smoky character that dates back to over two hundred years of history. The Lagavulin 12 Years Special Release 2022 Single Malt Whisky 0.7L 57.3% presents itself in a shiny, shimmering gold and has a medium body. The aroma is dry and immediately permeated with intense smokiness, which is noticeably stronger compared to Lagavulin. Charcoal and fragrant peat dominate, accompanied by a clean, fresh base with hints of sea air and mineral nuances. These characteristics remain essentially unchanged even after reduction and the addition of water. The smooth, slightly oily texture of the whisky offers a sweet fullness. The contents froze in the icy winds until a mysterious, cat-like creature suddenly appeared. Despite the freezing temperatures, it fixed its hypnotic golden eyes on the casks and enveloped them in a cocoon of magical warmth. The rescued oak wood transformed, creating rare depths of mysterious, glowing spice, forever preserved from the cold. A distillery more remote than most, Clynelish shares its terrain with the aloof Scottish wildcat Felix Sylvestris. These shy animals are rare and rarely seen. But the symbol of the wildcat proudly adorns the Clynelish distillery and guards it forever. This Clynelish 12 Years Special Release 2022 Single Malt Whisky shines like a golden eye in the light and shows a spicier side of its bright fruitiness and waxy texture. The whisky delights with complex aromas of fruits, herbs and a deep, fragrant oak spice. After an extensive secondary maturation in Pedro Ximenez/Oloroso casks, the smooth texture and rich, wine-sweet aromas are reminiscent of pepper spice.
